Barry Lauwers (born 29 November 1999) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Eerste Divisie club Volendam. ^[2]

Career

Born in Purmerend, Lauwers moved from the youth academy of FC Purmerend to that of Volendam in 2011. ^{[3] [4]} Progressing through all youth teams, he made his debut for reserve team Jong Volendam in 2018. That season, he contributed to the reserve team's promotion as champions of the Derde Divisie Sunday to the Tweede Divisie. Lauwers marked his professional debut for Volendam's first team on 12 May 2021, in a 2–1 home victory against Jong AZ. ^[5] Soon after, in June 2021, Lauwers extended his contract, committing to the club until the summer of 2022. ^[6]

Over the subsequent two seasons, Lauwers served as backup to Filip Stanković, stepping in when needed. Following Volendam's promotion in 2022, Lauwers made his Eredivisie debut: on 18 February 2023, he started in the match against Vitesse due to Stanković's injury, playing the entire game and securing a clean sheet in a 2–0 victory. ^[7] Despite interest from other clubs in 2023, Lauwers opted to extend his contract with Volendam. ^[8] The goalkeeper embraced the competition and expressed his determination "to demonstrate to the club and the loyal supporters that I'm the right man in the right place." ^[4]
