The regular 5-on-5 basketball tournament was held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay. [2]

Cuneta Astrodome was also previously considered as a potential venue for 5-on-5 basketball [3] while the SM Mall of Asia Activity Center was considered to host the 3x3 basketball competitions. [4]

The Philippines men's national basketball team, commonly known as Gilas Pilipinas, is the basketball team representing the Philippines. The team is managed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

Basketball at the 1984 Summer Olympics was the eleventh appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It took place at The Forum in Inglewood, California, United States from July 29 to August 10. The United States won the gold medal in both events, the first in the women's team history. Due to the boycott, the Soviet Union and Hungary withdrew from the tournament. The former, having already qualified for both events was replaced by West Germany in the men's competition, while both nations' women's teams were replaced by Australia and South Korea.

The SM Mall of Asia Arena, also known as the Mall of Asia Arena or the MoA Arena, is an indoor arena within the SM Mall of Asia complex, in Bay City, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. It has a seating capacity of 15,000 for sporting events, and a full house capacity of 20,000. The Arena officially opened on May 21, 2012. It has retractable seats and a 2,000-capacity car park building.

UAAP Season 75 was the 2012–2013 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The season's theme was "Unbreakable at 75" in relation to the league's diamond year. It was hosted by National University.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2013 FIBA Asia Championship</span>

The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship for Men was the intercontinental championship for basketball organized by FIBA Asia that served as the qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain. The tournament was held from August 1–11 in Metro Manila, Philippines. Beirut, Lebanon was supposed to host the tournament but the hosting rights was given to the Philippines citing the Syrian Civil War and security concerns in the Middle East in general. This was also the last Asian Championships that served as the qualifying round for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, as a qualifying window was used starting 2019.

The men's basketball tournament at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games was held in Kallang, Singapore at the OCBC Arena Hall 1 from 9 to 15 June.

NCAA Season 91 is the 2015-2016 collegiate athletic year of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in the Philippines. The national teams of Turkey, Senegal, Canada, France, New Zealand, and hosts Philippines were drawn into the tournament. The winner qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The men's basketball tournament at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the MABA Stadium from 20 to 26 August. The Philippines successfully defended its championship for the record twelfth consecutive time. Indonesia settled for the silver medal for the second consecutive time, while Thailand again placed in the podium after winning the bronze medal.

UAAP Season 84 was the 2021–22 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The Season 84 theme was "Fully Alive, Champions for Life" and the season's host was the De La Salle University. With the limitations brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, UAAP Season 84 only held men's basketball, men's and women's 3×3 basketball, women's volleyball, men's beach volleyball, cheerdance, taekwondo poomsae; and men's and women's chess tournaments as its events for the season. UST was declared UAAP general champion based on eight sporting events. Only the men's basketball, women's volleyball, and cheerdance were televised. The opening ceremony of Season 84 was presented virtually.

The Philippines men's national basketball team won the bronze medal at the 1954 FIBA World Championship held in Brazil. Since the 2014, the event is known as the FIBA Basketball World Cup. This is also the Philippines' first appearance in the tournament.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2021 MPBL Invitational</span>

The 2021 MPBL Invitational, officially known as the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Invitational powered by TM for sponsorship reasons, was an invitational tournament that served as a prelude to the 2022 MPBL season. It commenced on December 11, 2021 and ended on December 23, 2021. The tournament was also the first for the MPBL since it was granted professional status by the Games and Amusements Board. The Invitational was also the first professional sports event in the Philippines to allow live audiences since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, with the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, the venue for the tournament only allowing 50 percent capacity.
