The polo competitions at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines were held at the Miguel Romero Polo Field in Calatagan, Batangas. [1]
The two polo events, 0–2 low goal and 4–6 high goal took place from 24 November to 8 December 2019. [2] Due to Typhoon Kammuri (Tisoy) matches scheduled for 3, 4, and 6 December were postponed to 5, 6, and 8 December with the gold and bronze medal matches pushed to 9 December. [3]

Polo was held in two venues: the Miguel Romero Polo Field in Calatagan, Batangas, a newly-renovated venue [4] inaugurated on 23 November 2019 [5] which was formerly known as the Globalport Polo Field. [6] and the Iñigo Zobel Polo Field. [7]
Playing rules set by the Hurlingham Polo Association were used for these polo events. [1]
Four nations participated in two events in polo. [5] Each participating country was eligible to nominate 24 horses for either of the two event. Brunei brought in 45 horses in preparation for their participation while Indonesia and Malaysia opted not to bring their own horses. [1]

The 2013 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 27th Southeast Asian Games, or the 27th SEA Games, and commonly known as Naypyitaw 2013, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event took place in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar from 11 to 22 December 2013, Around 4730 athletes from 11 participating nations competed at the games, which featured 460 events in 34 sports. The games were held from 11 to 22 December 2013.

Typhoon Kammuri, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Tisoy, was a powerful typhoon which impacted the Philippines in early December 2019. The twenty-eighth named storm and sixteenth typhoon of the 2019 Pacific typhoon season, Kammuri developed from a tropical wave situated a couple hundred kilometers south of the Mariana Islands. From November 25 to 27, the system tracked westward at a steady pace and rate of intensification, first making minor impacts in Guam. On November 28, the system intensified into a typhoon as environmental conditions became marginally conducive for significant development. From November 29 to December 1, Kammuri was unable to strengthen to previous estimates due to its near stationary movement as a result of weak steering currents, upwelling itself consequently. On December 2, the system tracked westward at a much faster speed of 19 km/h (12 mph) and rapidly intensified over warm Philippine Sea waters, before making landfall in the Bicol Region of the Philippines at peak intensity as a category 4-equivalent typhoon.

The 2020 Palarong Pambansa, supposed to be officially known as the 63rd Palarong Pambansa, was scheduled to be held in Marikina, Metro Manila, from May 1 to 9, 2020, but were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Prior to that, the Games were originally scheduled to be held in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro but canceled due to financial reason and damages caused by Typhoon Kammuri (Tisoy). This marks the first time in history that the Palarong Pambansa has been withdrawn consecutively by the organizers of two official hosts: Mamburao and Marikina.
