Bastiaan Tamminga (born June 9, 1981) is a former Dutch swimmer who specializes in the 50 m events of the backstroke, butterfly and freestyle. He trained by former world champion Marcel Wouda alongside olympic champions Maarten van der Weijden and Hinkelien Schreuder.

Swimming career

Tamminga made his international debut at the European SC Championships 2001 in Antwerp. In the following years he appeared on many international tournaments especially in short course. At the European SC Championships 2007 in Debrecen, Hungary he won his only international medal, a bronze, in the 4×50 m medley relay alongside Nick Driebergen, Robin van Aggele and Mitja Zastrow.

2008

At the European Championships in March 2008 he finished 18th in the 50 m butterfly and 30th in the 100 m butterfly. In April he competed in the 2008 FINA Short Course World Championships and finished 10th in the 50 m butterfly, breaking the national record, and 21st in the 100 m. In the 4×100 m medley relay he swam a national record together with Robin van Aggele, Joeri Verlinden and Mitja Zastrow, finishing 8th in the final.

He was the coach of Olympic champions Maarten van der Weijden and Hinkelien Schreuder at the Nationaal Zweminstituut Eindhoven.

Nicolaas "Nick" Driebergen is a former Dutch Swimmer who is specialized in backstroke. He currently holds national long course records in all backstroke events and in the 4×100 medley relay. At short course he holds the national record in 50 and 100 m backstroke and in the 4×50 medley relay. He was the first swimmer in his country to swim the 100 m backstroke under 55 seconds and 200 m backstroke under 2 minutes at the long course.

Robin van Aggele is an Olympic and national-record-holding swimmer from the Netherlands and the most all-round Dutch swimmer since Marcel Wouda.

Robert Lijesen is a Dutch Swimmer, who is specialized in the 50 and 100 m freestyle. He is currently trained by former world champion Marcel Wouda at the same club as multiple olympic champion Pieter van den Hoogenband. He holds the European record in the 4 × 100 m freestyle Short Course together with Bas van Velthoven, Mitja Zastrow and Robin van Aggele in 3:09.18 swum during the World SC Championships 2008 in Manchester they finished second in this event behind the United States who swam a world record in the same race.

Bas van Velthoven is a Dutch swimmer who specializes in freestyle. He is currently training in Amsterdam with Nick Driebergen, Femke Heemskerk and Chantal Groot with the coach Martin Truijens. He held the European record in the 4 × 100 m freestyle short course with Robert Lijesen, Mitja Zastrow and Robin van Aggele in 3:09.18. This record was set during the World SC Championships 2008 in Manchester where the Dutch team finished second behind the United States, who broke the world record in the same race. A few weeks before, at the 2008 European Aquatics Championships in Eindhoven, he won the bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle.

Saskia de Jonge is a Dutch swimmer who specializes in freestyle distances of up to 200 m and is part of the Dutch national team. She is currently training in Amsterdam under the guidance of Martin Truijens together with Olympic Champions Femke Heemskerk and Manon van Rooijen.

At the 2021 World Short Course Championships he won two bronze medals in relay events, swimming in the prelims heats for each relay.

He is a world record holder in the 4×100-metre medley relay and formerly held a world record in the 4×50-metre medley relay. He won a gold medal at the 2008 World Short Course Championships, on the world-record-setting finals relay team for the 4×100-metre medley relay. He also won two silver medals and one bronze medal over the course of his career in the 4×50-metre medley relay at the European Short Course Championships.
