Batrachotrematidae is a family of trematodes in the order Plagiorchiida.

The following additional genera are described by Cribb (2005), [4] but are not discussed in Rizvi, et al. (2012) [2] or other studies:

Cribb (2005) [4] noted that most species of Batrachotrematidae are poorly described, and many seem to be different from the type-species of the genera to which they belong. A lack of molecular studies prevent adequate classification of the species; [2] Cribb (2005) [4] describes the split between African and Asian species, which parasitise different types of frogs, as possibly warranting a separate distinction at the family level. The lack of clarity regarding the definition of the family, and the lack of molecular and life-cycle studies on the putative species, makes Batrachotrematidae one of the worst-defined digenean families.

Hamacreadium is a genus of trematodes in the family Opecoelidae. It is synonymous with Olivacreadium Bilqees, 1976. Species of Hamacreadium are endoparasitic in fish such as Lethrinus Cuvier, 1829.

<i>Helicometra</i> Genus of flukes

Helicometra is a genus of trematodes in the class Opecoelidae. It is synonymous with AllostenoperaBaeva, 1968, MetahelicometraYamaguti, 1971, and StenoperaManter, 1933. Its type species is H. fasciata(Rudolphi, 1819). They are distinguished by their unique spiral uterus, from which their name is derived.

It is the only family in the superfamily Transversotrematoidea, which is the only superfmaily in the suborder Transversotremata. It has been synonymised with Circuitiocoeliidae Wang, 1981, Squamacolidae Pan & Wang, 1985, and Transversotrematinae Witenberg, 1944.

Caudotestis is a genus of trematodes in the family Opecoelidae.

Holorchis is a genus of trematodes in the family Aephnidiogenidae.

Heterolebes is a genus of trematodes in the family Opecoelidae.

Maculifer is a genus of trematodes in the family Opecoelidae.

Batrachotrema is a genus of trematodes in the family Batrachotrematidae. It is the type-genus of the family, and its type-species is B. petropedatis. The type-species is the only species of the family found in Africa, and this distinction has led Cribb (2005) to consider that a family-level distinction may be needed between B. petropedatis and other species of Batrachotrematidae; however, molecular testing will be needed to decide this point. Batrachotrema also contains B. pseudobagri, the only species of Batrachotrematidae which is parasitic in a fish, rather than in frogs.

Opisthioparorchis is a genus of trematodes in the family Batrachotrematidae. The separation of Opisthioparorchis and Batrachotrema, originally weakened by the heterogeneity of the former, has been solidified by the separation of species presenting tegumental spines to Opisthioparorchis and those without tegumental spines to Batrachotrema. This differentiation is opposed to that of Wang (1980), who separated Opisthioparorchis on the basis of the relative positioning of the testes and their relation to the internal caeca.
