Baylor Romney is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the BYU Cougars.

Early life

Romney grew up in a Latter-day Saint colony in Mexico, but moved to El Paso, Texas prior to his freshman year of high school. Romney graduated from Franklin High School in 2015. [1]

Romney originally committed to Nevada on August 11, 2014, and signed with the team on February 4, 2015. However, after going on an LDS mission to Carlsbad, California, he enrolled at Brigham Young University. [2]

College career

Romney redshirted in 2018 before playing in four games in 2019, starting two of them against Boise State and Liberty. [3] He threw for 747 yards and 7 touchdowns. He had two interceptions. He played in seven games in 2020, throwing a touchdown pass and an interception.

At the end of the 2021 season, Romney announced that he would enter the transfer portal. After six weeks in the transfer portal, Romney announced his retirement.

Personal life

His wife, Elise, competes in pole vault for the BYU track and field team. His brother, Gunner, is a wide receiver for the Cougars. He has two other siblings and his parents are named Jeni and Cade. [5]

He is a distant relative of Senator Mitt Romney. [1]

He has been the head football coach at Brigham Young University (BYU) since December 2015, and is the first Tongan to become a collegiate football head coach. The 1977 BYU Cougars football team represented Brigham Young University (BYU) for the 1977 NCAA Division I football season. The Cougars were led by sixth-year head coach LaVell Edwards and played their home games at Cougar Stadium in Provo, Utah. The team competed as a member of the Western Athletic Conference, winning a share of the conference title for the second consecutive year, sharing the title with Arizona State with a conference record of 6–1.

The 2013 BYU Cougars football team represented Brigham Young University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cougars, led by head coach Bronco Mendenhall, played their home games at LaVell Edwards Stadium. This was the third year BYU competed as an independent. They finished the season 8–5. They were invited to the Fight Hunger Bowl where they lost to Washington, 31–16.

Taysom Shawn Hill is an American professional football utility player for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He is officially designated as a quarterback. He played college football at BYU and joined the Saints in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. Hill was listed as a quarterback on the Saints depth chart during his first five seasons, though he took snaps at seven different positions. Hill was designated as a tight end beginning in 2022 before once again being listed as a quarterback in 2023. He has maintained similar roles on offense and special teams throughout his career, including as the Saints primary gunner.
