Beau Kittredge is a former Ultimate player, author, illustrator, and mobile video game entrepreneur. He is considered to be one of the greatest Ultimate players of all time, noted for his top-end speed and athleticism. [1] Kittredge won one college title (three finals), six USA Ultimate club titles (nine finals), seven world championships, and five AUDL titles. [2] He also won the AUDL Most Valuable Player award twice. [3] He is popularly known for a video in which he jumped over an opponent to catch the disc while playing with the University of Colorado. Personal life

Kittredge was born in Fairbanks, Alaska. He attended Lathrop High School before going to the University Of Colorado. [5] Beau is an author of five children's books and the founder of Snowsuit Studios, a company that develops mobile video games. [6] He currently lives in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Ultimate career

Amateur Club

Kittredge played Ultimate for University of Colorado Mamabird, winning one collegiate championship, before playing for club teams Johnny Bravo, Revolver, and PoNY, winning a total of six club titles. He has also played for the United States national team, winning two WFDF World Ultimate and Guts Championships and three World Games titles. He has two world championships representing Revolver in the Open division at the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships.

Semi-Professional

In 2013, Kittredge signed with the San Francisco Dogfish of the now-defunct Major League Ultimate. After a season with the Dogfish, he moved to the San Jose Spiders, an AUDL team. In his first season for the Spiders, Kittredge recorded 36 goals, 32 assists and 31 blocks, [7] whilst starting all 15 games. The Spiders finished the season by beating Toronto Rush 28–18 to win the 2014 AUDL Championship, resulting in Kittredge being named league MVP. [8] Kittredge helped the Spiders to a second straight Championship victory in 2015 in a 17–15 win against Madison Radicals. Over the season, he recorded 33 assists, 66 goals and 24 blocks. [9] He was also named the league MVP for the second year in a row. [10] In 2016, Kittredge signed for the Dallas Roughnecks for their inaugural season in the league. Injury meant that Kittredge was unable to have a full season, as he tore his ACL and MCL in a game against Charlotte Express. Despite this, he recorded 9 assists, 22 goals and 9 blocks during the season, [11] with the Roughnecks still managing a perfect 15–0 record for the season to win the 2016 AUDL Championship. Beau signed for the San Francisco FlameThrowers for the 2017 season, winning the championship over the Toronto Rush, and in 2018 went to the New York Empire where he won a championship in 2019.

Ultimate, originally known as ultimate frisbee, is a non-contact team sport played with a disc flung by hand. Ultimate was developed in 1968 by Joel Silver in Maplewood, New Jersey. Although ultimate resembles many traditional sports in its athletic requirements, it is unlike most sports due to its focus on self-officiating, even at the highest levels of competition. The term "frisbee" is a registered trademark of the Wham-O toy company, and thus the sport is not formally called "ultimate Frisbee", though this name is still in common casual use. Points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone. Other basic rules are that players must not take steps while holding the disc, and interceptions, incomplete passes, and passes out of bounds are turnovers. Rain, wind, or occasionally other adversities can make for a testing match with rapid turnovers, heightening the pressure of play.

Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) is an annual Ultimate Frisbee tournament organized by Ultimate Canada and the player association of the city where the championships are held. Until 2016, all divisions were hosted in the same location. Beginning in 2016 the mixed divisions have been held as a separate event.

The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) is an ultimate disc league in North America. The AUDL was founded in 2010, and played its inaugural season in 2012 with eight teams. Regular season games are played April through July. The playoffs consist of three rounds: divisional wild card round, division championships, and finally culminating in a final four style showcase known as AUDL Championship Weekend in August. The winner of each division's championship game advances to Championship Weekend, with semifinals on Saturday and the championship game played on Sunday.

They played in the MLU until the league was suspended in 2016. The team played in various stadiums throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

From 2015 through 2018, the Flyers played most of their home games at Crusader Stadium on the campus of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, with some home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. In 2019, the team has played home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, and other venues. After the 2020 AUDL season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team moved their home games to Durham County Stadium beginning in 2021. In 2022, the team announced that it was changing its name to the Carolina Flyers. The team had won the national title once in 2021.

After losing in the AUDL championship games in 2013 and 2015, the Radicals claimed its first championship in 2018. Madison also hosted AUDL Championship Weekends in 2016 and 2018, the latter of which coincided with a championship win.

The 2015 American Ultimate Disc League season was the fourth season for the league. Each team played a 14-game schedule. The San Jose Spiders won the AUDL Championship over the Madison Radicals at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California. The Spiders won the championship despite entering the final four with the lowest seed after a regular-season finish of 10-4.

The Atlanta Hustle is a professional ultimate frisbee franchise based out of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. They compete as one of 25 teams in the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL), playing in the league's South Division.

The 2019 American Ultimate Disc League season was the eighth season for the league. It began on April 5, 2019, and concluded on August 11, 2019, when the New York Empire defeated the Dallas Roughnecks to earn the team's first title. Ben Jagt of the Empire won his first league MVP award after the season. The season marked Steve Hall's first as league commissioner, and was the first with an all-star game for the league.

Team "EuroStars" is an Elite European Ultimate women's team formed from over 10 nations each year to challenge the top North American teams in the "Americus Pro Cup" and promote the European women's game. The EuroStars provide an opportunity for these world class players to play in a strong team, learn about other cultures and promote female European talent. Founded in 2017 by captain Rebecca "Bex" Forth. EuroStars Tour were shared in 6 simultaneous clinics in 6 different European countries. The "You’re a Star" clinics will happen each spring to increase outreach.

Carolyn Finney, colloquially known as "Finney," is an ultimate player for San Francisco Fury and has represented the United States national team multiple times in international competition. She is known as one of the most well-rounded players in the USA Ultimate women's division.
