The Belize national basketball team is the official national representative of Belize in international men's basketball, [2] playing in the FIBA Americas division, and more specifically, within the Central American region.
The men's team has little to no international experience. Its first major victory in international play came on home soil in the 1998 Caricom Men's Basketball Championship, held at the Civic Center in Belize City, Belize. Belize placed seventh of eight teams in the 1999 Centrobasquet Tournament in Havana after winning only one game despite playing close all the way. In a return engagement at the 2000 CARICOM Championship in Barbados, Belize placed fourth. Shortly after that, Belize moved to the Central American region and won the Central American Games championship in 2001. The team has failed to duplicate this success, most recently finishing with a 2 and 4 record in the 2006 COCABA Championship.
The team finished second in the 2009 COCABA tournament in Cancun, Mexico where it went 3–0 in group play despite allegations of fielding ineligible players. FIBA decided to treat the Belize National Team's games as unofficial and initially decided to disqualify them from the competition for having more than one naturalized citizen on their team. Belize won an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in April 2010, the players in question are Belizean by descent, not naturalization.
Belize won its opening match in the Centrobasquet Tournament, defeating Trinidad and Tobago, but lost badly to Mexico in a rematch of the COCABA final. A tough win over Cuba set Belize in a position to advance, but they fell to Puerto Rico in their final match and failed to qualify.

The Centrobasket is a FIBA-sponsored international basketball tournament where national teams from Central America and the Caribbean participate. These countries make up the Central American and Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CONCENCABA). The top three or four Women's National teams typically earn berths to the FIBA Women's AmeriCup, from which they can qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup or Summer Olympics. Teams qualify for these tournaments by finishing high in the previous Centrobasket or by placing high at the FIBA COCABA Championship for Mexico and the seven Central American countries and at the FIBA CBC Championship for the 23 Caribbean countries. In total, 31 countries have an opportunity to qualify their national teams for Centrobasket, yet all of them do not enter teams regularly.

The COCABA championship is a regional basketball qualifying tournament and the first of four possible steps that Central American national teams have to participate in order to qualify for major international basketball competitions.
Qualifying for the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship the basketball championships for the Americas began on August 12, 2007 at the FIBA CBC Championship for national teams from the Caribbean. Three teams qualified from that tournament to the 2008 Centrobasket, from which four automatic berths are available.
The 2010 CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifying was the eighth edition of the CONCACAF W Championship, the quadrennial international women's football championship contested by the senior women's national teams of the member associations of CONCACAF, the regional governing body of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Serving as the region's 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifiers, it was played by eight teams from 28 October to 8 November 2010 in Cancún, Mexico. For the second time in its history, it was won by Canada.
The 2010 Men's Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship, also known as 2010 Centrobasket, was hosted in the Dominican Republic. This edition was the first time that the Centrobasket featured ten teams in the finals; previously, eight teams had qualified. Puerto Rico won the title with an 89-80 victory over Dominican Republic. Panama captured the bronze medal with a 75-74 victory over Cuba. All four teams qualified for the FIBA Americas Championship 2011. Jamaica finished 5th for their best ever performance at the tournament while Belize finished 7th to match their best performance. The British Virgin Islands finished 8th after qualifying for Centrobasket for the first time in their history.

The Panama women's national football team represents Panama in international women's football. The team is overseen by the Federación Panameña de Fútbol. Panama has made four appearances at the CONCACAF Women's Championship, with their best result being the semi-final finish in 2018. In 2023, Panama made their debut in the FIFA Women's World Cup, finishing last in Group F.

The tournament was held in the city of Panama City from June 19 to June 25.
José Luis Dámaso Martinez is a Spanish international professional basketball coach. He has coached professionally in Spain, Nicaragua and recently in El Salvador with A.D. Isidro Metapán and Quezaltepeque Basketball Club. Currently, he is the head coach of the Liga Municipal Monsenor Romero female team. The team competes out of Santa Ana, El Salvador in La Liga Mayor de Baloncesto Femenino.
