Belvidere is an unincorporated community in Kiowa County, Kansas, United States, [1] and located along the Medicine Lodge River.
Belvidere was a shipping point on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. [2]
A post office named Glick operated from 1883 until 1890. The Glick post office was renamed Belvidere on April 26, 1890, remained in operation until it was discontinued on November 23, 1996. [3]
Nearby are the Roth Petroglyph Site and the Star Petroglyph Site. Both are on the National Register of Historic Places.
In the mid-2000s, Belvidere become the home of a NOAA Weather Radio transmitter, WNG534, operated by the National Weather Service Forecast Office in nearby Dodge City.

It is home to the world's largest hand-dug well. On the evening of May 4, 2007, Greensburg was devastated by an EF5 tornado that leveled at least 95 percent of the city and killing eleven people between the ages of 46 and 84. Today, Greensburg stands as a model "green town", often described as the greenest in America. Pawnee Rock, one of the most famous landmarks on the Santa Fe Trail, is located in Pawnee Rock State Park, just north of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, United States. Originally over 150 feet (46 m) tall, railroad construction stripped it of some 15 to 20 feet (6.1 m) in height for road bed material. A memorial monument, picnic area, and pergola have been constructed on the top. From the top of the pergola is a view the Arkansas river valley and the route of the Santa Fe trail. Today it is a prominence rising 50 or 60 feet above the surrounding plains. Matt Field, who traveled the Santa Fe Trail in 1840, later wrote, "Pawnee Rock springs like a huge wart from the carpeted green of the prairie." Traders, soldiers, and emigrants who stopped, carved their names into the brown sandstone. Some of these names are still visible among the markings of the more recent visitors.
