The Algarve is the southernmost NUTS II region of continental Portugal. It has an area of 4,997 km2 (1,929 sq mi) with 467,495 permanent inhabitants and incorporates 16 municipalities.
The Phi Phi Islands are an island group in Thailand between the large island of Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. The islands are administratively part of Krabi Province. Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest and most populated island of the group, although the beaches of the second largest island, Ko Phi Phi Le are visited by many people as well. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok, Bida Nai, and Ko Mai Phai, are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea. The islands are reachable by ferries, speedboats or long-tail boats, most often from Krabi town or from ports in Phuket Province.
Portimão is a city and a municipality in the district of Faro, in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. The population in 2022 was 60,879, in an area of 182.06 km2. It was formerly known as Vila Nova de Portimão. In 1924, it was incorporated as a cidade and became known merely as Portimão. Historically a fishing and shipbuilding centre, it has nonetheless developed into a strong tourist centre oriented along its beaches and southern coast. The two largest population centers in the Algarve are Portimão and Faro.
Nazaré is a Portuguese town and municipality located in the Oeste region, in the historical province of Estremadura, and in the Leiria District. The municipality has a population of 14,889 in an area of 82.43 km2, while the town itself has around 10,000 inhabitants.
Carvoeiro is a town and a former civil parish in the municipality (concelho) of Lagoa, Algarve, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Lagoa e Carvoeiro. The population in 2011 was 2,721, in an area of 11.66 km². It is located about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south of Lagoa.
The Jeita Grotto is a system of two separate, but interconnected, karstic limestone caves spanning an overall length of nearly 9 kilometres (5.6 mi). The caves are situated in the Nahr al-Kalb river valley within the locality of Jeita, 18 kilometres (11 mi) north of the Lebanese capital Beirut. Though inhabited in prehistoric times, the lower cave was not rediscovered until 1836 by Reverend William Thomson; it can only be visited by boat since it channels an underground river that provides fresh drinking water to more than a million Lebanese.
Lagoa is a city and municipality in the district of Faro, in the Portuguese region of Algarve. The population of the municipality in 2011 was 22,975, in an area of 88.25 km2. Its urban population, in the city of Lagoa proper, is 6,100 inhabitants. An important travel destination, its coast has won numerous accolades. Marinha Beach was considered by the Michelin Guide as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe and as one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world.
Praia da Rocha is a beach and built up area on the Atlantic Ocean in the southern section of the concelho of Portimão, Algarve, southern Portugal. On the eastern edge of the beach stands the Fort of Santa Catarina (Portimão). A 17th century fortress built to defend the mouth of the Arade River. Now a popular tourist attraction accessible directly from the beach or the road above. In summer the beach hosts the Afro Nation music festival, Rolling Loud techno festival and the Secret Project music festival.
Vilamoura is a coastal luxury resort in the Loulé municipality in Algarve, Portugal. It is one of the three corners of Algarve's Golden Triangle. Vilamoura comprises one of the largest single tourist complexes in Europe and with about 2,000 hectares of land. The nearest airport is in Faro.
Burgau, located in the western region of the Algarve, under the municipality of Vila do Bispo, is a former fishing village. Now living mainly on tourism, its most notable attraction is the small beach of Praia de Burgau, surrounded by cliffs that protect it from the frequent strong wind characteristic of Barlavento.

As of 2023, Portugal had 26.5 million international visitors. In addition, there were also 11 million trips made by Portuguese residents including overnight stays at local hotels.
Buíque is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pernambuco, mesoregion of Agreste. It has an estimated population of 58,919 in a total area of 1345,1 km2. The Kapinawá Indigenous Reserve is located in the municipality of Buíque.
Vale Verde International School (VVIS) is an international school located in Burgau, Algarve, Portugal. The school was established in 2002 when it obtained its official license from the Ministry of Education. The school is one of two licensed international private primary schools in the Western Algarve. VVIS has an emphasis on British education and follows a modified version of the English curriculum and prepares students for IGCSE and A level examinations. All IGCSE subjects are based on the Cambridge University curriculum. Admission to the school is dependent on a successful interview and entry examination.
The Blue Grotto refers to a number of sea caverns on the south east coast of Malta, a short distance from the fishing harbour limits of Wied iż-Żurrieq, Malta. Wied iz-Zurrieq, the Blue Grotto and neighboring caves are all located within the Qrendi village confines, per Local Council Act 1993 and a 1910 legal dispute between the villages of Qrendi and Zurrieq over their jurisdiction, which ruled in favour of Qrendi.
Salema is a village located near Vila do Bispo in the Algarve, Portugal. Historically it was a fishing village, but at present it is a popular tourist destination.
Praia do Vale dos Homens is a beach within the Municipality of Aljezur, in the Algarve, Portugal. The beach is on the western seaboard in the north west of the Algarve. The beach is 1.7 miles (2.7 km) north west of the village of Rogil, and is 72.4 miles (116.5 km) north west, by road, from the region's capital of Faro.
Praia da Carreagem is a beach within the Municipality of Aljezur, in the Algarve, Portugal. The beach is on the western Seaboard in the north west of the Algarve. The beach is 2.6 miles (4.2 km) west of the village of Rogil, and is 71.8 miles (115.6 km) north west, by road, from the regions capital of Faro. The beach is inside the Vicentine Coast Natural Park.
Praia do Túnel is a beach on the Atlantic south coast of the Algarve, in the town of Albufeira which is within the Municipality of Albufeira, Portugal. The beach is also known as Praia do Peneco and is one of the two beaches which front the town of Albufeira with Praia do Túnel at the western end and Praia dos Pescadores lying to the eastern end of the towns seafront. The town and its beaches are located west 23.9 miles (38.5 km) by road of the regions capital of Faro.
Ponta da Piedade is a headland with a group of rock formations along the coastline of the town of Lagos, in the Portuguese region of the Algarve. Consisting of yellow-golden cliff-like rocks up to 20 meters high, they are one of the most famous touristic attractions of Portugal. Several grottos in Ponta da Piedade can be visited by boat. The location also contains a lighthouse, dating back to 1913.
Caramujeira is a hamlet in Portugal, located in the civil parish of Lagoa and Carvoeiro, on the outskirts of the city of Lagoa, in the Algarve region. It became well known for its Marinha Beach, considered by the Michelin Guide as "one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe" and "as one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world". In 2018, CNN rated the Marinha Beach as one of the "best beaches in the world". Caramujeira is also known for its wine production.
