Rashid Ramzi is a Moroccan-Bahraini track and field athlete competing internationally for Bahrain in the 800 metres and 1500 metres. Ramzi was investigated by the IAAF after the 2008 Summer Olympics and was stripped of his gold medal for doping.
Sunday Bada was a Nigerian sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres event. He won three medals at the World Indoor Championships, including a gold medal in 1997. His personal best time was 44.63 seconds, and with 45.51 seconds indoor he holds the African indoor record. He set a national record in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2000 Olympics, where the Nigerian team also won gold medals after the disqualification of the US team who had finished first.
Joseph Gikonyo Mukinyi is a former Kenyan athlete who competed in the 100 and 200 metres. He was the Kenyan record holder in both distances with 10.28 seconds and 20.43 seconds respectively. The 100 metres national record has since been broken by Tom Musinde, who ran 10.26 at the 2007 All-Africa Games He also competed in the men's 200 metres at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
Taiwo Aladefa is a retired Nigerian 100 m hurdler. She attended Alabama A&M university from 1989 until 1993. She is the school record holder in 100M hurdles (13.19sec) and was a 16 time NCAA All American athlete. Aladefa was a member of the first historically black college to ever win any NCAA track and field competition (1992). She competed in the women's 100 metres hurdles at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
Azzedine Brahmi is an Algerian long-distance runner who competed mostly over 3000 metres steeplechase. He won a bronze medal at the 1991 World Championships. His best Olympic performances came in 1988 and 1992, when he finished eighth. He also competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Fatima Yusuf-Olukoju is a retired Nigerian athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres during her career. She won 400 metres race in the 1991 All-Africa Games and was second in the 200 metres race. She is married to Adewale Olukoju.
Hatem Ghoula is a Tunisian race walker. He won four consecutive African Championships in the 20 kilometres walk from 1996 to 2002. His foremost medal was a 20 km walk bronze at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. He is also a two-time gold medallist at the All-African Games, having won in 2003 and 2007.
Mohamed Naguib Hamed is an Egyptian athlete and among the very few of his compatriot athletes to win gold medals at African athletic events. He competed in the men's discus throw at the 1984 Summer Olympics and the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Cape Verde competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Their participation marked their fourth Olympic appearance. Egypt competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012, sending one of its largest delegations ever. A total of 110 Egyptian athletes participated in 83 events across 20 sports, with more women taking part than ever before. The nation's flagbearer in the opening ceremonies was Hesham Mesbah, a judoka who was Egypt's only medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Egypt won two medals during the course of the Games: Alaaeldin Abouelkassem earned silver in the men's foil, becoming the first competitor from an African nation to win a fencing medal, while Karam Gaber captured silver in the men's 84 kg Greco-Roman wrestling event. Two Egyptian weightlifters were awarded medals retroactively, after higher-ranked competitors were disqualified for doping: Abeer Abdelrahman took silver in the women's 75 kg event, while Tarek Yehia, received bronze in the men's 85 kg event. Among other achievements, Mostafa Mansour was the nation's first competitor in sprint canoeing while fencer Shaimaa El-Gammal became the first Egyptian female to appear in four editions of the Olympics.
The African island country of Seychelles competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, held from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's eighth appearance at the Olympics, except the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul because of its partial support to the North Korean boycott.

Abdelwahab Ferguène is an Algerian former racewalking athlete who competed in the 20 kilometres race walk. Born in Akbou, he twice represented Algeria at the Summer Olympics, 26th in 1984 and 32nd in 1988. He was also a three-time participant at the World Championships in Athletics and a four-time representative at the IAAF World Race Walking Cup. He was a two-time winner of the African Championships in Athletics and won four continental silver medals. He also finished in the top two at the Maghreb Athletics Championships and Arab Athletics Championships throughout his career.
