Benjamin Chesire Cheboi, EBS, is a Kenyan politician who was the first and current Governor of Baringo County. [1] He belongs to the UDA party.
Cheboi was born in 1958 in the then Baringo district. He was educated at Kabarnet Boys High School for both his O levels and Friends School, Kamusinga for his A levels. He then proceeded to University of Nairobi to Pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree. He also holds a master's degree in Financing Higher Education from University of Manchester United Kingdom.
Governor Cheboi held the position of Ag. Academic Registrar, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He thereafter worked as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Higher Education Loans Board before being promoted to serve as the CEO of the same institution. In addition he was the first president of the Association of African Higher Education Agencies (AAHEFA). He also served as Commissioner, Commission for Higher Education and Director at the Kenya Institute of Directors.
Following the promulgation of the constitution of Kenya (in 2010), which entrenches devolution, there were calls from several quarters in Baringo County for Cheboi to vie for governorship. As required by law, Cheboi resigned from HELB in September 2013 to run for office.
He chose to vie on a URP ticket. In the party primaries of 17 January 2013, Cheboi trounced his sole opponent, Kiprono Chelugui in five out of Baringo County's six constituencies. In the 4 March Kenya general election Cheboi won the gubernatorial seat after beating four other candidates. He was sworn into office on 27 March 2013. His popularity and landslide victory is majorly credited with his track record while he was the chief executive officer of the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
In the April 2022 UDA Party nominations, he beat the incumbent Governor Stanley Kiptis where is making his comeback to the leadership of the county upon clinching the seat in August 2022. Also in the race was the Eldama Ravine MP Moses Lessonet who came in second in the primaries.
In his campaigns, Cheboi promised to tackle cattle rustling, boost food security through initiation and rehabilitation of irrigation schemes and promote education in the county.
Upon assuming office, Governor Cheboi constituted his first County Executive Committee composed of the following for the respective dockets.
Governor Cheboi and Senator Gideon Moi, though elected through different political parties have exhibited a close working relationship for the sake of development of Baringo County. Together with the County women representative, Grace Kiptui, they regularly hold consultative meetings. They have been in the fore-front in mitigating the effects of the 2014 drought as well as tackling the cattle rustling menace in the county.
Governor Cheboi has won several awards including Presidential Award, Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS), Kenya Communication Technology Award, BEST executive support for ICT-2008 and World Bank Fellowship to study Master's in Education.

She served as Minister for Health from 2003 until 2007 and Minister of Water and Irrigation from April 2008 to 2013. She also served as Cabinet Secretary for Land, Housing and Urban Development from 2013 until 2015.

Cyrus Shakhalaga Khwa Jirongo, popularly Cyrus Jirongo, is a politician and a former Member of Parliament in Kenya. Between 1978 and 1981 he went to Mang'u High School. He became the chairman of AFC Leopards football club in 1991.
Mutava Musyimi is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Party of National Unity and was elected to represent the Gachoka Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election.
Calist Andrew Mwatela is a Kenyan politician and educator. He was a member of the East African Legislative Assembly, representing Kenya from 2001 to 2006. He represented Mwatate Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya on an Orange Democratic Movement ticket. He was elected in 2007, but was unable to defend his seat in the 2013 general election.

He hails from Tumoi, Sigor in Chepalungu constituency and went to Tenwek High School where he proceeded to study Political Science at the University of Nairobi. He is also a former chairman of the Council of Governors in Kenya.
Hosea Mundui Kiplagat was a Kenyan politician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He belonged to the Tugen ethnic community. He was born to Isaac Salgong and Zipporah Salgong, a maternal cousin to the second president of Kenya, Daniel arap Moi, in 1945. Notably he was the longest serving Chairman of The Cooperative Bank of Kenya.
Joshua Wakahora Irungu is a Kenyan politician and community development specialist. He was appointed to the position of Chairperson of Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) in February 2019. He is the first and third governor of the County of Laikipia first serving from 2013 to 2017, representing the Jubilee Coalition party TNA and securing a return running on a UDA ticket in 2022.

He also is the former senator of Murang'a County, and the former Senate of Kenya Majority Chief Whip, former member of parliament for Kiharu Constituency and a former Councillor for Central Ward in Murang'a town. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen is a Kenyan lawyer and politician serving as the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports. He is also the former Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public Works in Kenya. Hon. Murkomen is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a three-time elected Senator of Elgeyo Marakwet County. He served for 21 months as Roads and Transport Cabinet.

Peninnah Gathoni Muchomba popularly known as Gathoni Wa Mucomba is a Kenyan journalist, entrepreneur and politician. She is the Member of Parliament for Githunguri Constituency in the bicameral Kenyan parliament since 2022 and a member of the ruling party, UDA. She formerly vied and won the Kiambu women representative post in the 2017 General election. Gathoni garnered 922,829 votes from Kiambu county constituents.
John Murumba Chikati is a Kenyan politician and the current Secretary General for the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy – Kenya (FORD-Kenya). Chikati is also the current Member of National Assembly for Tongaren Constituency, and the current Secretary General for Catholic MPs Spiritual Support Initiative (CAMPSSI). He is the immediate former Special Secretary for Strategy and Delivery in the Office of the Deputy President.
