Bhrigu Nath Singh,also known as B.N. Singh,is an Indian engineering scientist,current Vice-Chancellor at Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University [2] and former Director General at the IITRAM. [5] He is a professor,former HAL chair professor and Institute's first Dean of Human Resources(2016-2020),Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. [6] [7] Chair of the ICTACEM and former Head of Department Aerospace Engineering,IIT Kharagpur. [8] [9]
He is a notable alumni of MNNIT,Allahabad who has been awarded distinguished alumni award in 2024. [10] [11] He was one of the delegates of Aerospace Industry-Academia Conclave,HAL. [12]
Singh got his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Master's in Applied mechanics from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad India in 1990 &1992. Existing passion pertaining to Aeronautical Engineering,six years later in 1998,he joined Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at IIT Kanpur,received in 2001,later obtained his Post Doctorate Fellowship from Wright State University in 2003. Prior to joining IIT Kharagpur as an assistant professor in 2004,Singh was a faculty member of MNNIT Allahabad. [7] He has addressed several problems in aerospace structures with particular focus on geometric and material nonlinearity and uncertainty. Singh has over 130 research papers published and has given numerous national and international talks. He has supervised over 21 Ph.D. [14] and 61 MTech students. He has handled several defense projects for the Government of India. He has organized three ICTACEM,an international conference in which more than 250 delegates from India and abroad attend. [15]
Singh has developed several mathematical models. He first time introduced a direct iterative-based probabilistic procedure for handling highly nonlinear problems,which are still challenging tasks in the research community. He has put forth his knowledge and ideas in some of the highly-rated journals. [16] He has the distinction of getting his paper listed as the most cited paper since 2008 and also of a leading researcher in the field of uncertainty quantification. [16]
Singh is a fellow of Indian Society for Technical Education India and an elected fellow of the Institute of Engineers (India). [6] [17] He has been listed among top most cited papers in International Journal of Finite Elements in Analysis and Design in 2014. Dr. Srikumar Banerjee was an Indian metallurgical engineer. He retired as the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India (AECI) and the secretary of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) on 30 April 2012. Prior to his stint as DAE chairman, he was the director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) from 30 April 2004 to 19 May 2010. He had also served as a DAE Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. He was known as a great physical metallurgist.
Niranjan Krishna Nayak is an Indian aerospace engineer and Professor Emeritus at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He is known for his research work on thermomechanical behavior of textile composites and ballistic impact, low velocity impact, fatigue and fracture of composites. His special interest is also on science and technology of aircraft production. Major awards and recognitions conferred to him are: Fellowship of the National Academy of Sciences, India (2004); Fellowship of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (2005); Professor H. H. Mathur Award for "Excellence in Research in Applied Sciences 2006" by IIT Bombay; "Excellence in Aerospace Education Award 2008" by the Aeronautical Society of India; Aerospace Engineering Division Gold Medal of the Institution of Engineers (India) for the year 1992-93 for his research on polymer matrix composites and "Shri Hotchand M. Lala and Shrimati Jamuna H. Lala Excellence in Teaching Award, 2013" by IIT Bombay.
Prem Chand Pandey is an Indian space scientist, planetary scientist, and academic in the fields of satellite oceanography, remote sensing, atmospheric science, the Antarctic and climate change, and also he is the founding director of the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR).
Partha Pratim Chakrabarti (Chakraborty) (born 1962) is an Indian computer scientist. He is a distinguished professor and the former director of IIT Kharagpur. Dr. Chakrabarti has made pioneering research contributions and solved a number of open problems. His work has been incorporated in standard text books as well as industry level tools of major international companies. He has published more than 200 papers in international journals and conferences and supervised two dozen PhD students. He is also an honorary awardee of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, the highest science award in India, for the engineering category in 2000.
V Ramgopal Rao is an Indian Academic serving as the Vice Chancellor of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani from February 2023 onwards. He was previously the director of IIT, Delhi for six years during 2016-2021.
Chandrathil Gouri Krishnadas Nair is an Indian technocrat, teacher and metallurgical scientist known for his contributions in the field of aeronautical metallurgy. Dr Nair was given the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India for his contributions to science and technology in 2001.
Tarun Kant, an institute chair professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Mumbai since December 2009, was born on 1 July 1946 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, India. He received a BSc degree from Allahabad University in 1962, a B.Tech (Hons.) degree in civil engineering from IIT Bombay in 1967 and an M.Tech in civil engineering, specializing in structural engineering, from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1969. Kant spent about 18 months at a consulting engineering firm in Mumbai before becoming a lecturer at IIT Bombay in January 1971. He received a PhD degree in 1977. Kant became an assistant professor in 1978 and a professor in 1986. At IIT Bombay, he has been a department head (2000–2002), dean of planning (2001–2003) and chair of the Joint Entrance Examination (1998) and the Central Library (1995–1999).
The International Conference on Theoretical, Applied, Computational and Experimental Mechanics (ICTACEM) is a professional organization in the field of engineering. The organization was founded by P.K. Sinha, a professor of aerospace engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur as the "Conference on Theoretical applied, Computation and experimental mechanics" in 1998, and its current name was adopted in 2001. The first conference was held on December 1, 1998.
Gangan Prathap is an Indian scientist/engineer specialising in structural mechanics, composite material, finite elements and information science. After his graduation in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Madras, he was with National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, for about twenty years serving the laboratory as scientist at several levels. In April 2000, he took over as Scientist-in-Charge, CSIR Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation and held that position till January 2008. He had also served as the Vice-Chancellor, Cochin University of Science and Technology, for a short period from February 2008 to February 2009. After leaving CUSAT, Prathap took charge as director of National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR), and continued in that position till his retirement on superannuation from government service. Since August 2013, he has held the position of Outstanding Scientist at National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram. He is also an Honorary Professor of A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University.
Sankar Kumar Nath is an Indian geophysicist, seismologist and a senior professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He is known for his geotomographical studies and is an elected fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, Indian Geophysical Union and the National Academy of Sciences, India, The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences in 2002.

Baidyanath Misra was an Indian economist, educator, author, and administrator from the state of Odisha. He served as the Vice-Chancellor of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Deputy-Chairman of Odisha State Planning Board, Chairman of Odisha's First State Finance Commission, Secretary of Odisha State Welfare Board, founder Secretary and President of Orissa Economics Association, and the founder Director and Chairman of Nabakrushna Choudhury Centre for Development Studies. He wrote 16 books in English and 20 in Odia. He was also a columnist in several leading Odia journals and newspapers. He organised several camps across Odisha, for helping the cause of the poor and downtrodden.
Amitabha Ghosh is an Indian researcher, administrator and educator. He currently holds the position of Honorary Scientist, Indian National Science Academy and Honorary Distinguished Professor in the Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics Department at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal. He is an Emeritus Senior Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and a Fellow of The National Academy of Sciences, India, of which he was elected a Senior Scientist Platinum Jubilee Fellow in 2012. Ghosh has made contributions in various fields, including fundamental and applied research, technology development, administration and social development.
Sudhir Kumar Jain is the incumbent and 28th Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University. He is a civil engineer by education and has formerly served three terms as the founding director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. He has carried out intensive research and development in the fields of seismic design codes, dynamic of buildings, and post-earthquake studies. Beside these, Jain has actively participated in teaching, research activities and development in earthquake engineering focused on developing countries. He is an elected fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering. He was also elected a member of U.S. National Academy of Engineering (2021) for leadership in earthquake engineering in developing countries.
Bhoj Raj Seth (1907-1979) known with the initials, B R. Seth was an Indian professor of engineering and the father of Kiran Seth. He was the first vice chancellor of Dibrugarh University in 1966 and had worked in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
