Bianca Hammett (born 12 September 1990) is an Australian synchronized swimmer. Taking up the sport at the age of eight and joining Australia's National Team in 2006, Hammett has represented Australia internationally in synchronised swimming since 2007. [1] Hammett is a dual Olympian, having competed for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, held in London, and the 2016 Summer Olympics, held in Rio de Janeiro. [1] Hammett has also competed for Australia at the 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2015 World Aquatics Championships.
Nicknamed B and Yanks, Hammett was born on 12 September 1990 in Warrnambool. [2] She attended Calamvale State School before going to Calamvale Community College for high school. [2] In 2009, she enrolled at the University of Queensland and as of 2012, was working on a Bachelor of Applied Science. [2] As of 2012 [update] , she lives in Calamvale, Queensland. [2]
Hammett is 173 centimetres (5 ft 8 in) tall and weighs 55 kilograms (121 lb). [2]
Hammett is a synchronised swimmer, [2] taking up the sport after she read an advertisement for it in a newspaper when she was eight years old. [2] She is a member of the Gold Coast Mermaids. [3] Hammett is currently coached by Lilian Grenier and Marina Kholod. [1]
Hammett joined Australia's elite national synchronised swimming team in 2006, and made her international debut at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in the free combination event. [2] [4] The team was the first ever Australian team to reach the finals of a synchronised swimming event. [4]
At the 2009 National Championships, Hammett finished third in the Open Solo event and, with partner Samantha Reid, second in the Open Duet event. [2] At the 2010 National Championships, she and Reid, finished second in the Open Duet event. [2] At the 2011 National Championships, she and Reid finished third in the Open Technical Duet and Open Free Duet events. In the Team Open Combination event, she came away with gold. [2]
Hammett finished 4th in the team event and 12th in Duet at the 2010 Swiss Open in Arbon, Switzerland. [2] She finished 11th in the team event at the 2010 FINA World Cup in China. [2] She finished 18th in the technical team event at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. [2] She finished 17th in the team event at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. [2] She finished 9th in the team event at the 2011 German Open in Bonn, Germany. [2] She finished 6th in the team event at the 2011 French Open in Paris, France. [2] The FINA World Championships held in Shanghai, China, served as the 2012 Olympic qualifying event for the team. Her team finished 18th in the technical team portion and 17th in the Free Team event. [2] [3]
Hammett was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in synchronised swimming. [2] [5] [6] [7] Hammett competed in the team event with Eloise Amberger, Jenny-Lyn Anderson, Sarah Bombell, Olga Burtaev, Tamika Domrow, Tarren Otte, Francesca Owen and Samantha Reid, finishing in eighth place overall. The 2012 Games were her first. [5] [6]
In 2013, Hammett was selected to compete at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships held in Barcelona. Competing alongside Olga Burtaev in the duet event, the pair finished 22nd in the technical event and 30th in the free event. [8] [9]
In 2015, Hammett competed with the Australian synchronised swimming team at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships held in Kazan. Hammett competed in both the team events and the duet events alongside Nikita Pablo. The Australian pair finished 28th in the technical duet, and 30th in the free duet. [10] [11] The Australian team finished 20th in the technical team, and 16th in the free team. [12] [13] Hammett was the flag bearer for the Australian aquatics team at the event. [2]
In 2016, Hammett was selected to represent Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, alongside Hannah Cross, Danielle Kettlewell, Nikita Pablo, Emily Rogers, Cristina Sheehan, Amber-Rose Stackpole, Amie Thompson and Deborah Tsai. The Australian team placed 8th overall in a field of 8 teams. [2]
Synchronized swimming or artistic swimming is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by World Aquatics. It has traditionally been a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed gender duet competition that included one male swimmer in each duet at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and European Aquatics introduced men's individual events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. From 2024, men are able to compete in the team event at the Olympics.
The 2007 World Aquatics Championships, or the XII FINA World Championships, were held in Melbourne, Australia from 17 March to 1 April 2007. The competition took place at three locations in central Melbourne: the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, St Kilda Beach, and Rod Laver Arena in a temporary pool christened the Susie O'Neill Pool.
Chloe Elizabeth Sutton Mackey is an American retired competition swimmer who specializes in freestyle and long-distance events. Sutton represented the United States at two consecutive Olympic Games. Sutton has won a total of five medals in major international competition, three gold, one silver, and one bronze spanning the Open Water Championships, Pan Pacific Championships, and Pan American Games. She was a member of the 2012 United States Olympic team, and competed in the 400-meter freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The American team competed at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships in Shanghai, China from July 16 to July 31. The United States topped the gold medal count in the competition with 17 golds and finished the competition with 32 total medals, behind China's 36. 16 of the 17 gold medals came from the swimming competition and one came from the open water swimming competition. Individually, Michael Phelps won the most overall medals in the competition with seven. Ryan Lochte won the most gold medals among the male competitors with five and finished the competition with six medals total.
Bryan Nickson Lomas is a former Malaysian diver. Lomas was the youngest Malaysian athlete to qualify for 2004 Summer Olympics when he was 14. He became the country's first world junior diving champion after winning gold at the 3 m springboard event in the World Junior Championships held at Belém, Brazil in 2004. He trained under the coaching of Yang Zhuliang. Lomas is named after the footballer Bryan Robson by his father.
Eloise Michelle Amberger is an Australian synchronized swimmer. Amberger made her international debut for Australia's National Junior Team in 2002 at the World Junior Synchronised Swimming Championships in Montreal, and joined Australia's National Team two years later in 2004. Amberger is a dual Olympian, having competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and is a Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, having claimed third place overall in the duet event with Sarah Bombell at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Samantha Reid is an Australian synchronised swimmer. She participated in the 2008 Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics, representing Australia.
Jenny-Lyn Anderson is an Australian synchronized swimmer. She competed in the women's team event at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Olga "Olia" Burtaev is an Australian synchronised swimmer. Burtaev joined Australia's National Team at 14 years of age, and made her international debuts at the 2010 Swiss Open and the 2010 FINA Synchronised Swimming World Cup. Burtaev competed for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and represented the nation at the 2011 and 2013 World Aquatics Championships.
Reem Wa'il Abdalazem El-Bossaty is an Egyptian synchronised swimmer who competed in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

She was the champion in the solo free routine at the leg of the World Series hosted virtually by Australia. Gustavo Adolfo Sánchez is a Colombian artistic swimmer. He won two gold medals in the solo free routine at the 2022 Artistic Swimming World Series as well as a bronze medal in the mixed duet technical routine. His gold medal in the solo free routine at the Paris stop of the 2022 World Series marked the first gold medal won by an artistic swimmer representing Colombia at a FINA Artistic Swimming World Series. He is a 2022 Bolivarian Games champion in the mixed duet routine. At World Aquatic Championships, he placed sixth in the mixed duet technical routine in 2022 and eighth in 2019, as well as sixth in the mixed duet free routine in 2022 and eighth in 2019.
Yotaro Sato is a Japanese artistic swimmer. He won the silver medal in the mixed duet technical routine at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships with his older sister Tomoka Sato, which was the first medal for Japan in the event at a FINA World Aquatics Championships other than a bronze medal, as well as a silver medal in the mixed duet free routine. As part of the 2022 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series, he won one gold medal and one silver medal in the mixed duet free routine and one gold medal in the mixed duet technical routine. At the 2022 World Junior Championships, he became the first male artistic swimmer to win the silver medal each in the solo technical routine and the solo free routine at a World Junior Championships.
Javier Enrique Ruisanchez Torres Zayas is a Puerto Rican artistic swimmer and former pool swimmer. He is a nine-time medalist at the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series, winning eight medals at the 2022 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, he and his partner Nicolle Torrens became the first artistic swimmers representing Puerto Rico to qualify for, and compete in, a final of a mixed gender duet event at a FINA World Aquatics Championships, finishing eleventh in the mixed duet free routine and twelfth in the mixed duet technical routine.
Tomoka Sato is a Japanese artistic swimmer. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, she and her younger brother Yotaro Sato became the first duo representing Japan to win a silver medal in the mixed duet technical routine, they also became the first representing Japan to win a silver medal in the mixed duet free routine. She also won a silver in the team technical routine and a bronze medal in the team free routine at the same Championships. Earlier in the year, she won a gold medal in the mixed duet technical routine and a gold medal and a silver medal in the mixed duet free routine as part of the 2022 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series. At the 2018 World Junior Artistic Swimming Championships, she won three bronze medals in team events.
Zhang Yiyao is a Chinese artistic swimmer. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, she won a bronze medal in the mixed duet technical routine and a bronze medal in the mixed duet free routine. In 2018, she won two silver medals in mixed duet events at the World Junior Championships and four gold medals, two in mixed duet events and two in team events, at the leg of the 2018 Artistic Swimming World Series held in Beijing.
