Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC is a retired Flag Officer in the Indian Navy. He served as the 13th Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command from 29 February 2016 to 1 December 2019. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Verma attended the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun. He later attended the National Defence Academy where he was adjudged the Best Naval Cadet. His elder brother, Nirmal Kumar Verma [5] also joined the Navy and rose to become the 20th Chief of the Naval Staff. [6]
Verma was commissioned into the Navy on 1 January 1980. He has done his specialisation in Communication and Electronic Warfare. [7]
He has commanded the amphibious warfare ships INS Shardul and INS Magar, the destroyer INS Ranjit and the Guided missile destroyer INS Mysore. [7]
Ashore, he has served as Principal Director Naval Operations and as the Naval attaché at the Embassy of India, Tehran, Iran.
As a flag officer, he served as Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra and Gujarat Naval Area as well as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff for Information Warfare & Operations. After his promotion to the rank of vice admiral on 1 November 2012, he was appointed as the Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command where he coordinated the International Fleet Review 2016. [7]
Admiral Sushil Kumar Isaacs, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, NM was an Indian Navy Admiral who served as Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) of the Indian Navy. He was the Director of Naval Operations during Operation Pawan and Operation Cactus and was the CNS during the Kargil War.

Lieutenant General Podali Shankar Rajeshwar PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC is a former General officer in the Indian Army. He last served as the 14th Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command, from December 2019 to May 2020. He took office on 1 December 2019 when Vice Admiral Bimal Verma retired. He superannuated on 31 May 2020, handing over command to Lieutenant General Manoj Pande. Earlier, he had served as the 12th Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, from November 2018 to November 2019.
Vice Admiral G. Ashok Kumar PVSM, AVSM, VSM is a retired Flag Officer in the Indian Navy, who is currently appointed as the first National Maritime Security Coordinator. He works within the National Security Council Secretariat under the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He served as the 35th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff. He assumed the position on 30 January 2019 from Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar who took over the Western Naval Command. He retired on 31 July 2021 after 39 years of service. He is succeeded by Vice Admiral Satish Namdeo Ghormade.

Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area (FOMA) is a senior appointment in the Indian Navy. One of the five Area Commanders of the Indian Navy, the FOMA is a two star admiral holding the rank of Rear Admiral. The FOMA has operational control of the flotilla and forces assigned for the local naval defence of all ports in Maharashtra and the 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron. Apart from this, the FOMA is responsible for the operations and administration of all units and establishments in Maharashtra. The current FOMA is Rear Admiral Manish Chadha, who assumed office on 10 November 2023.
