John Bush of AllMusic praised Bodily Functions as "the perfect marriage of art and intelligence". [2] Sal Cinquemani of Slant Magazine said: "Often jazzy, often housey and sometimes folky, the album rarely misses a beat in any of its assumed genres." [8] PopMatters writer Kevin Strychalski called the album Herbert's " Mona Lisa ", writing that "never before has an artist working within the electronic medium delivered an album of such depth and maturity." [11] Slant Magazine named Bodily Functions the third best album of 2001. [12]

Pitchfork placed Bodily Functions at number 173 on its list of the top 200 albums of the 2000s. [13] Bodily Functions was also named the 16th best album of the decade by Resident Advisor . [14]

"Release" is a song performed by American producer and rapper Timbaland, taken from his second studio album Shock Value (2007). The song features vocals by longtime collaborator Justin Timberlake. Mosley and Timberlake co-wrote the song together with rapper and songwriter Craig Longmiles. The song was produced solely by Timbaland and recorded in various locations in the United States. "Release" is an uptempo house and funk song that incorporates elements of dance and urban music.
