He represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games over two decades, competing in the shot put and discus throw. He won a total of five medals at the Commonwealth Games including gold in the discus at the 1966 Games.

Four years later he represented England in the 10,000 metres, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Wilfrid George Tatham was a British hurdler. He competed in the men's 400 metres hurdles at the 1924 Summer Olympics. Tatham was fourth in the 440 yard hurdles at the 1930 British Empire Games.
