It was originally named "Monument to the Liberators of Tallinn", was later titled to its current official name "Monument to the Fallen in the Second World War", and is sometimes called Alyosha, or Tõnismäe monument after its old location. The memorial was unveiled on 22 September 1947, three years after the Red Army reached Tallinn on 22 September 1944 during World War II.
Lasnamäe is the most populous administrative district of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The district's population is about 119,000, the majority of which is Russian-speaking. Local housing is mostly represented by 5–16 stories high panel blocks of flats, built in the 1970–1990s.
Kesklinn is one of the 8 administrative districts of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It is situated on the Tallinn Bay and bordered to the northwest by the district of Põhja-Tallinn, to the west by Kristiine, to the southwest by Nõmme, to the east by Lasnamäe and Pirita, and to the south by Rae Parish, beyond Lake Ülemiste. The island of Aegna, located in the Tallinn Bay, also falls within this administrative district. Kesklinn has an area of 30.6 km2 (11.8 sq mi) and a population of 57,731 ; population density is 1,886.6/km2 (4,886/sq mi).
Tallinnfilm is the oldest surviving film studio in Estonia. It was founded as Estonian Culture Film in 1931, and was nationalized in 1940 after Estonia was integrated into the Soviet Union. During the first year of Soviet Occupation (1940–1941) Eesti Kultuurfilm was taken over by the Communist Party and renamed Kinokroonika Eesti Stuudio. In 1942 during the German occupation the studio was renamed Kinokroonika Tallinna Stuudio and then renamed again as Tallinna Kinostuudio in 1947 by the Soviets. The Tallinn Film Studio was renamed Kunstiliste ja Kroonikafilmide Tallinna Kinostuudio in 1954 and in 1963 was renamed again Tallinnfilm.
The Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML), known as the PAF Korvpalli Meistriliiga for sponsorship reasons, is the top-tier men's basketball league in Estonia. The league is organized by the Estonian Basketball Association and played under FIBA rules.

The 1921 Estonian Football Championship was the first football league season in Estonia. It was played as a knock-out tournament between September 25 and October 13. Four teams took part in the competition – three from Tallinn and one from Narva. All the games were played at Tiigiveski Ground in Tallinn and refereed by Alexander McKibbin. Top scorer was Heinrich Paal with 3 goals, followed by Vladimir Tell and Oskar Üpraus with two. VS Sport Tallinn won 5–3 against Tallinna Jalgpalli Klubi and thus became the first ever champions of Estonia.

Estonian Maritime Academy of Tallinn University of Technology is a vocational university in Estonia. It is one of the schools of Tallinn University of Technology and it is the only educational institution in Estonia that offers professional higher education, Master’s and Doctoral level education in the maritime field. The university is located in the capital Tallinn but also has two centres in Saaremaa. In addition to higher education, the school contributes to research, provides training and offers services. The Academy also holds a one of a kind Simulator Centre and has a whole dedicated floor of hi-tech laboratories.

The Tram System of Tallinn is the only tram system in Estonia. Together with the four-route trolleybus network (et), the four tram lines, with a total length of 19.7 km, are arranged in a roughly cross-shaped layout, providing a backbone for the public transport network in the Estonian capital. Four of the five routes meet up at the stop Hobujaama, in the city center. Trams are unidirectional, one-sided and single-person operated, and much of the network runs on segregated two-way track.
