Bookmarks is the sixth studio album by American singer Five for Fighting. It was released on September 17, 2013, by Wind-up Records. [2] [3] The album's first single, "What If", was released on June 11, 2013. [4]
After his previous album Slice was released in 2009, Ondrasik was uncertain about his future music career. He decided to record Bookmarks after restoring his passion for music while training for a marathon. [5]
Bookmarks was produced by Derek Fuhrmann and Gregg Wattenberg. Wattenberg previously worked with American rock band Train and American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips. [6] Ondrasik and Wattenberg previously worked together for Ondrasik's 2000 album America Town . While recording, both of them tried out various genres and drum rhythms. Almost 60 songs were recorded for Bookmarks including six versions of "You'll Never Change". [7]
Ondrasik based the songs off of Bookmarks on his life experiences that occurred in the three years after Slice. [5]
Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic said that while Bookmarks sounded like early 2000s adult contemporary, he praised the positive lyrics and believed Bookmarks was the most put together album by Five for Fighting. [1]

Vladimir John Ondrasik III, also known by his stage name Five for Fighting, is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. He is best known for his piano-based soft rock ballads, such as the top 40 hits "Superman " (2001), "100 Years" (2003) "The Riddle" (2006). He also had a string of moderate hits on the adult contemporary charts in the late 2000s and into the 2010s, including "World" (2006) and "Chances" (2009). His 2021 single "Blood on My Hands" with its accompanying docu-music video protesting the American withdrawal from Afghanistan went viral receiving over a million digital views.
The Battle for Everything is the third studio album by American singer Five for Fighting, released on February 3, 2004 by Aware Records and Columbia Records. Following the success of America Town (2000) and its breakthrough single, "Superman " (2001), John Ondrasik reteamed with producer Gregg Wattenberg and brought in Bill Bottrell to work on new material for his next record. The Battle for Everything debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200 and spawned four singles: "100 Years", "The Devil in the Wishing Well", "Silent Night", and "If God Made You". The album was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), denoting sales of over 1,000,000 copies. The album's title refers to the fact "that nothing in the making of this record came easy – including concern over the title itself".
