Borgestad ASA (OSE : BOR) is a Norwegian shipping, industry and real estate company. [1] The corporation has two primary divisions: Borgestad Properties and Borgestad Industries. [2]

Borgestad Properties operates 11 open hatch bulk carriers and one Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel. It also owns a shopping centre in Bytom, Poland and a housing complex at Borgestadholmen in Skien. Borgestad Industries develops and produces refractory and fire-resistant products. [3] [4]

The company dates back to July 1, 1904, when Aktieselskapet Borgestad was founded by Prime Minister Gunnar Knudsen when he merged his shipping companies and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange ten years later. [5] [6]

<i>Skomvær</i> (barque) Norwegian steel-hulled barque

Skomvær was the name of a steel-hulled barque built in 1890 for J. C. & G. Knudsen in Porsgrunn, Telemark, Norway. The ship, which was designed by naval architect Randulf Hansen and constructed at Laxevaags Maskin- og Jernskibsbyggeri in Bergen, was the first sailing ship constructed with steel in Norway and for a time the largest Norwegian sailing vessel ever built. However, the ship struggled to compete in the 20th century with the advent of the steamship, and in 1924 she was decommissioned and sold for scrap.

Borgestad Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Skien Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Borgestad. It is the church for the Borgestad parish which is part of the Skien prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, stone church was built in a long church design in 1907 using plans drawn up by the architect Henrik Nissen. The church seats about 382 people.

MS <i>Borgestad</i> Norwegian cargo ship built in 1925

MS Borgestad was a Norwegian diesel-powered cargo ship, built at Burmeister & Wain, Copenhagen in 1925. The vessel is known for having engaged the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper to protect a convoy, where many of the vessels managed to escape thanks to her actions. Borgestad was sunk in early 1941 and all 31 people on board perished. Captain Lars Grotnæss was awarded the War Cross, post mortem.
