Born to Break is the fourth studio album by Scottish hard rock band The Amorettes, released on 6 April 2018. On 13 April, the album charted at number 13 on the Scottish Albums Chart. [1]
For their fourth album, The Amorettes retained the production personnel used on their previous album, White Hot Heat, released in 2016. Producer Luke Morley of Thunder was joined by engineer Nick Brine (The Darkness, Bruce Springsteen) for the recording sessions which took place at Rockfield Studios in Wales. [2]
All the tracks on the album were composed by lead guitarist and vocalist Gill Montgomery, although the lyrics for "Everything I Learned I Learned from Rock and Roll", the first single from the album, were written by Black Star Riders frontman Ricky Warwick. Warwick said the song was "based on personal experience, and a nod to some of the great artists out there who have shaped and defined our rock n roll identity." [3] Three other tracks on the album were co-written with Morley.
Describing the band as "the best band out of Scotland since The Almighty", Neil Johnson of Louder Than War cited the "more refined and considered songcraft" of Born to Break compared to its predecessor, describing it as "honest to goodness, spit and sawdust rock 'n' roll". [4]
Gerald Stansbury of Über Rock described the album as diverse, and rising high above the band's previous records. Focusing on the album's strong riffs, catchy choruses and outstanding performances from all three members of the band, he described Born to Break as "a classic album that will be an album of the year contender". [5]
On 16 February 2018, the band released the first single from the album, "Everything I Learned I Learned from Rock and Roll", which was voted Classic Rock's track of the week for the last week of March, [6] and was performed on Live at Five on Scottish television channel STV2 on 4 April.
The second single from Born to Break, "Whatever Gets You Through the Night", was released on 13 July. [7] The song received the band's first national radio airplay on 9 July, on Johnnie Walker's Rock Show on BBC Radio 2. [8] A third single, "Born to Break", was released on 2 November. [9]

Motörhead were an English rock band formed in June 1975 by bassist, singer, songwriter and only constant member Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. The band are often considered a precursor to the new wave of British heavy metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Though several guitarists and drummers have played in Motörhead, most of their best-selling albums and singles feature the work of Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor on drums and "Fast" Eddie Clarke on guitars.
"Sunshine Superman" is a song written and recorded by Donovan. The "Sunshine Superman" single was released in the United States through Epic Records in July 1966, but due to a contractual dispute the United Kingdom release was delayed until December 1966, where it appeared on Donovan's previous label, Pye Records. The "Sunshine Superman" single was backed with "The Trip" on both the United States and United Kingdom releases. It has been described as "[one of the] classics of the era", and as "the quintessential bright summer sing along".

Destroyer is the fourth studio album by American hard rock band Kiss, released on March 15, 1976 by Casablanca Records in the US. It was the third successive Kiss album to reach the top 40 in the US, as well as the first to chart in Germany and New Zealand. The album was certified gold by the RIAA on April 22, 1976, and platinum on November 11 of the same year, the first Kiss album to achieve platinum. The album marked a departure from the raw sound of the band's first three albums.
Thunder are an English hard rock band from London. Formed in 1989, the group was founded by former Terraplane members Danny Bowes, Luke Morley and Gary "Harry" James (drums), along with second guitarist and keyboardist Ben Matthews and bassist Mark "Snake" Luckhurst. Originally signed to EMI Records in the UK, the band released their debut album Backstreet Symphony in 1990, which reached number 21 on the UK Albums Chart and number 114 on the US Billboard 200. The 1992 follow-up Laughing on Judgement Day reached number 2, while both albums were certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). All nine singles released from the two albums reached the UK Singles Chart top 40.
"Let There Be Love" is a song by the English rock band Oasis from their sixth studio album, Don't Believe the Truth (2005). Written by Noel Gallagher, it is the fourth Oasis song to feature Liam and Noel on lead vocals, the first being "Acquiesce", the second being "Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is" and the third being "Born on a Different Cloud". It was released on 28 November 2005 as the third and final single from the album in the United Kingdom, and the second single in the United States.
Louder Now is the third studio album by American rock band Taking Back Sunday. In April 2005, the group had begun writing material for the album. Two months later, they signed with Warner Bros. Records and contributed a song to the Fantastic Four soundtrack. Soon afterwards, the group rented a room in Manhattan where they composed songs for Louder Now. They came up with 20 songs, discarding half of them and recording demos of the remainder. The group began recording Louder Now with Eric Valentine in September 2005 at Barefoot Studios in Los Angeles, California. After Warner Bros. told them they did not need to rush, they recorded new demos. Recording ended on New Year's Day, 2006, and was followed by a tour of the UK, Australia and the U.S.

The Dykeenies are a Scottish indie rock band from Cumbernauld, formed in 2005. The group consists of brothers Brian Henderson and Andrew Henderson, along with Steven Ramsay and John Kerr. Since their formation, they have released one studio album, Nothing Means Everything, accompanied by three singles. After a worldwide tour, the band began work on their second album, which was released in October 2011. They broke up in January 2012, before re-forming for two performances in 2017. The Dykeenies released their EP 'I Wanted To Show Her All The Beautiful Things In The World' on 11 May 2018. The title of the 2018 EP was taken from Bret Ellis-Easton's 'American Psycho'.
Robert Johnson's Tombstone is the eighth studio album by English hard rock band Thunder. Recorded at Chapel Studios in South Thoresby, Chez Bez and Tackle Out Studios in London, and the El Relaxo villa in Mijas, Spain, it was produced by the band's lead guitarist Luke Morley. The album was released in the UK by STC Recordings on 30 October 2006, in Europe by Frontiers Records on 10 November, and in Japan by Victor Entertainment on 26 February 2007.

Imagine Dragons is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, consisting of lead singer Dan Reynolds, lead guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and drummer Daniel Platzman. Recorded in late 2014 at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales, it was produced by the band's lead guitarist Luke Morley and released internationally by earMusic in February 2015. Wonder Days was the first Thunder studio album to be released since Bang! in 2008, as well as the band's first release on earMusic with whom they signed after returning from their second breakup in 2014.
