Bowe Hill is a mountain in the Central New York Region of New York. It is located in the Town of Hartwick, southwest of Arnold Lake and northeast of Mount Vision. It was once referred to as Rye Hill due to the large quantities of cereal grain grown on its slopes. [2]

Hartwick College

Hartwick College is a non-denominational, private, four-year liberal arts and sciences college in Oneonta, New York. The institution's origin is rooted in the founding of Hartwick Seminary in 1797 through the will of John Christopher Hartwick. In 1927, Hartwick Seminary moved to expand into a four-year college and was offered land by the city of Oneonta to move to Hartwick College's current location. The school has 1,200 undergraduate students from 30 states and 22 countries, 187 faculty members and the student-faculty ratio is 11-1.

Mark Beal Banks was an American football, basketball and baseball player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Centre College (1909–1911), Ohio Wesleyan University (1912), Ohio University (1913–1917), Drake University (1918–1920), the University of Tennessee (1921–1925), and Hartwick College (1941–1948), compiling a career college football record of 99–72–10. Banks was also the head basketball and head baseball coach at Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio, Drake, and Tennessee. He played football, basketball, and baseball at Syracuse University.

New York State Route 205 highway in New York

New York State Route 205 (NY 205) is a north–south state highway in central Otsego County, New York, in the United States. It extends for 23.24 miles (37.40 km) from Interstate 88 (I-88) exit 13 near the city of Oneonta to a junction with NY 28 in the town of Otsego. The latter junction also marks the east end of a 2.1-mile (3.4 km) overlap between NY 205 and NY 80, from where NY 80 heads southeast to follow NY 28 to Cooperstown. NY 205 is a two-lane highway for its entire length and passes through the towns of Oneonta, Laurens and Hartwick.

The Bowe Brothers were a criminal family in New York City during the early-to-mid-19th century. The gang was headed by Martin Bowe, owner of the Catherine Slip sailors' home Glass House, and included Jack, Jim and Bill Bowe. All were well-known shooters, cutters and thieves in New York's Fourth Ward and often led waterfront thugs in raids on dockyards and ships anchored in the East River. The brothers were also fences and disposed of money obtained by other waterfront gangs.
