Donald Arthur Mattingly is an American professional baseball coach,and former first baseman and manager in Major League Baseball (MLB). He is the bench coach for the Toronto Blue Jays of MLB. Nicknamed "the Hit Man" and "Donnie Baseball",he spent his entire 14-year MLB playing career with the New York Yankees and later managed the Los Angeles Dodgers for five years and the Miami Marlins for seven seasons.

A seven-time All-Star,Munson had a career batting average of .292 with 113 home runs and 701 runs batted in (RBIs). His last year,1986,he played for the Seattle Mariners. From 2012 to 2018,Yeager was the catching coach for the Dodgers. He was co-MVP of the 1981 World Series.

Frederick Wayne Honeycutt is an American former professional baseball coach and pitcher. Honeycutt pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) for six different teams over 21 years,from 1977 to 1997. He pitched in 30 post-season games,including 20 League Championship Series games and seven World Series games,and never lost a game,going 3–0. Honeycutt gave up no runs in the 1988 and 1990 post-seasons,and was a member of the Oakland Athletics' 1989 World Series championship team. He was also the pitching coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2006 through 2019.

James Louis Beattie is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played for the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners from 1978 to 1986. He also served as the Montreal Expos' general manager from 1995 to 2001,and was the Baltimore Orioles' general manager with Mike Flanagan from 2003 to 2005. As of 2010,Beattie served as a professional scout in the Toronto Blue Jays organization through the 2018 season. Beattie retired from his decades-long career in MLB at the end of the 2018 season. Beattie starred in baseball and basketball at South Portland High School in South Portland,Maine.

The Yankees competed as members of the American League East,finishing first in the first half of the season,and tying for fifth in the second half of the season;overall,they won 59 games while losing 48. The team advanced to the postseason due to their first-half first-place finish,where they defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League Division Series and the Oakland Athletics in the American League Championship Series,capturing the Yankees' only pennant of the 1980s. The Yankees then lost the World Series in six games to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees played their home games at Yankee Stadium and were managed by Gene Michael until September 5,and by Bob Lemon thereafter.

Due to the 1981 player's strike,the season was split in half,with pre-strike and post-strike results. The Mariners were sixth in the division in the first half at 21–36 (.368),and fifth in the second half at 23–29 (.442). The strike began on June 12 and regular season play resumed on August 10.

After his Major League Baseball career,he played for the Yomiuri Giants of Japanese Nippon Pro Baseball from 1981 to 1982. Thomasson was a member of the Yankees' 1978 World Series winning team over the Dodgers.

Over his career in the majors,he compiled a .254 batting average with eight runs scored,31 hits,seven doubles,one home run,and nine runs batted in (RBIs). Pasley hit his only career major league home run in what would prove to be his final at-bat in the majors on October 1,1978.
