Brandon Kavanagh (born 21 September 2000) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League of Ireland Premier Division club St Patrick's Athletic. His previous clubs are Shamrock Rovers, Bray Wanderers and Derry City.
A native of Crumlin, Dublin, Kavanagh began playing with local side Crumlin United, before moving on to St Francis, St Joseph's Boys, Bray Wanderers, Bohemians and finally Shamrock Rovers. [1] While at St Joseph's Boys, he was part of a formidable side that included fellow future professional footballers Joe Redmond, Aaron Bolger, Jonathan Afolabi, Andy Lyons, Promise Omochere, Ryan Burke and Max Murphy among others. [2] [3]
Kavanagh made his senior debut for Shamrock Rovers on 7 February 2018 in a 2–1 Leinster Senior Cup win over St Mochta's at Tallaght Stadium, in which he opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute. [4] On 16 April 2018, he made his league debut for the club, replacing Sean Kavanagh from the bench in the 73rd minute of a 1–0 defeat away to Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds. [5] He made 19 appearances in all competitions in his first season at senior level with the club. [6] On 18 October 2019, Kavanagh scored his first career League of Ireland Premier Division goal, netting in a 3–0 win away to UCD, which saw the home side's relegation confirmed. [7] He made 24 appearances in all competitions in the 2019 season [6] and was also part of the matchday squad for the 2019 FAI Cup Final which his side won on penalties against Dundalk at the Aviva Stadium. [8] With first team involvement limited in 2020, Kavanagh mainly featured for the club's reserve side Shamrock Rovers II in the League of Ireland First Division, scoring 9 goals in 16 appearances which saw him named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Year. [9] In December 2020, he was linked with a move to Premier League side Crystal Palace. [10]
On 19 January 2021, he joined League of Ireland First Division side Bray Wanderers on a season long loan. [11] Kavanagh's 7 goals in 31 games in all competitions over the season, saw him named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Year for the second year running. [12]
On 7 December 2021, it was announced that Derry City had signed Kavanagh from Shamrock Rovers for an undisclosed fee, signing a 3-year contract with the club. [13] [14] [15] He made his first career appearance in European competition on 14 July 2022, in a 2–0 loss away to Riga in the UEFA Europa Conference League. [16] On 13 November 2022, Kavanagh came off the bench in the 2022 FAI Cup Final, in a 4–0 win over Shelbourne at the Aviva Stadium, a record Cup Final scoreline margin. [17] His first season with the club saw him score 2 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions. [6] His second season with Derry saw him feature in 5 of the 6 games in their UEFA Europa Conference League campaign, playing at home and away against HB of Faroe Islands, at home to KuPS of Finland and home and away to Tobol of Kazakhstan, against whom he scored in the penalty shootout in the second leg at Tallaght Stadium, as his side were defeated 6–5 on penalties. [18] He scored 6 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions in 2023. [6] In November 2023, it was reported that Derry City had agreed a fee for Kavanagh with recent FAI Cup winners St Patrick's Athletic. [19] [20]
On 21 November 2023, it was announced that Kavanagh had signed a multi-year contract with his boyhood club St Patrick's Athletic for an undisclosed fee. [21] [22] He made his debut for the club on 3 February 2024, scoring the final goal of the game in a 3–1 win away to UCD in the Leinster Senior Cup. [23] His first league goal for the club came on 19 April 2024, when he scored the equaliser in a 1–1 draw with Waterford at Richmond Park. [24] On 13 June 2024, he came off the bench in the 90th minute before heading home the winning goal in the 96th minute of a 2–1 win at home to rivals Shamrock Rovers. [25]
Kavanagh was named as part of the squad for the Republic of Ireland U17 team's 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Croatia. [26] He was also part of the squad for the Republic of Ireland U19 side's 2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Armenia. [27]
On 6 February 2019, he scored the only goal of the game in a 1–0 win for the Republic of Ireland U21 side over the Republic of Ireland Amateur squad. [28] In March 2019 he was called into the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for the first time for a competitive fixture. [29] He made his competitive debut at U21 level on 24 March 2019, in a 3–0 win over Luxembourg U21 at Tallaght Stadium. [30]

Ronan Finn is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League of Ireland First Division side UCD, where he is also club captain. Across a playing career spanning nearly 20 years, he has turned out for UCD, Sporting Fingal, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers. Having made over 50 appearances in European competition, Finn competed in the group stages of the Europa League with both Shamrock Rovers (2011) and Dundalk (2016).
James Chambers, born 14 February 1987 in Dublin, is an Irish former professional footballer who played for Shelbourne, Waterford United, Drogheda United, Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick's Athletic in Ireland, Solihull Moors in England, Hamilton Academical in Scotland and Bethlehem Steel in the United States. Dane Massey is an Irish former professional footballer who played as a defender for League of Ireland Premier Division clubs Bray Wanderers, Dundalk and Drogheda United, as well as for the Republic of Ireland national futsal team. Massey has made all 14 of his appearances in European competition for Dundalk and was part of their team that became the first Irish side to reach the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League in August 2016.
Shamrock Rovers Futsal Club was an Irish futsal club based in Tallaght, South Dublin. It was the futsal team of Shamrock Rovers F.C. In 2007 they were the inaugural winners of the FAI Futsal Cup and they subsequently represented the Republic of Ireland in the 2007–08 UEFA Futsal Cup. They were the first team to represent the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Futsal Cup. Between 2009 and 2011 they also played in three successive Emerald Futsal League title play-off finals, winning the competition in 2009 and 2010.

The 2019 season was St. Patrick's Athletic F.C.'s 90th year in existence and was the Supersaint's 68th consecutive season in the top-flight of Irish football. It was the first season Harry Kenny took charge of the club, following Liam Buckley's spell in charge for the previous seven seasons. The fixtures were announced on 19 December 2018, with the Saints facing Cork City at home on the opening day of the season for the second year in a row, with the Inchicore side set to play champions Dundalk away from home on the final night of the season. Harry Kenny left his post on 24 August following a 3–1 loss away to bottom of the table UCD in the FAI Cup. He was replaced by Stephen O'Donnell on 31 August, his first managerial role. Pats finished 5th in the league and won the Leinster Senior Cup, playing the semi-final and final with their underage sides after the league season had ended for the senior team.
The 2021 League of Ireland Premier Division, known as the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division for sponsorship reasons, was the 37th season of the League of Ireland Premier Division, the top Irish league for association football clubs since its establishment in 1985. Shamrock Rovers were the defending champions, having won their sixth league title the previous season. Shamrock Rovers went on to retain the title.
