The second series of Sky One comedy-drama television series Brassic began broadcasting on 7 May 2020. Joe Gilgun, Michelle Keegan, Damien Molony, Tom Hanson, Aaron Heffernan, Ryan Sampson, Parth Thakerar, Steve Evets, Anthony Welsh and Dominic West reprised their roles from the first series, while Ramon Tikaram and Bronagh Gallagher joined the main cast. [1] The second series consisted of six episodes, which were broadcast on a weekly schedule, though all episodes were prematurely released entirely on the premiere date through the Sky television streaming service. [2] The series concluded on 11 June 2020.

Contents

Brassic follows the lives of Vinnie (Gilgun) and his five friends who live in the fictional northern English town of Hawley. The working class group commit various crimes in order to survive, but as they get older, some of them begin to wonder whether they wouldn't be better off away from town. [3] The second series follows up from the previous series, in which Vinnie faked his own death in order to avoid torture from "businessman" Terence McCann (Ramon Tikaram).

On 24 April 2020, Sky One released the second series' trailer, briefly showing the events that would occur and announcing its release date of 7 May. [10]

Broadcast

The series began broadcasting on 7 May 2020. [10] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Kingdom entered into an emergency lock-down; many journalists then urged people to watch the programme, referring to it as "an essential lockdown binge-watch". [11]

Critical response

Critics that are registered to review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes have praised the second series, in particular for its humour and for bringing happiness in a negative time during the COVID-19 pandemic. [12]

She joined the cast of Shameless in series 6, playing the role of "Maxine". She appeared in the first series of Sky One and later Sky Max’s production “Brassic” where she played a minor role. The inaugural series of Sky One comedy-drama television series Brassic began broadcasting on 22 August 2019. Throughout the series, the directing credits rotated between Daniel O'Hara and Jon Wright: O'Hara directed the first three episodes whereas Wright directed the second half. The programme was created by Joe Gilgun, who also portrays the lead role of Vinnie O'Neill, and Danny Brocklehurst, who also wrote five episodes of the first series.

Starstruck is a comedy television series created by Rose Matafeo, co-written with Alice Snedden, directed by Karen Maine, and starring Matafeo and Nikesh Patel with Minnie Driver in a special guest starring role. A second series was commissioned before the first series aired. Series one premiered 25 April 2021 and series two was released on 2 February 2022. In June 2022, the series was renewed for a third season, and it was released on 28 August 2023. The series received positive critical reception.
