Bret D. Daugherty is a Major General and the current (since 2012) Adjutant General of Washington State. In this role, he is the commander of the entire Washington National Guard, including both the Washington Army National Guard and the Washington Air National Guard. He was previously Assistant Adjutant General under Timothy Lowenberg (from 2009 to 2012). [1]

In the United States Army, United States Marine Corps, and United States Air Force, major general is a two-star general officer rank, with the pay grade of O-8. Major general ranks above brigadier general and below lieutenant general. A major general typically commands division-sized units of 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers. Major general is equivalent to the two-star rank of rear admiral in the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard, and is the highest permanent peacetime rank in the uniformed services. Higher ranks are technically temporary and linked to specific positions, although virtually all officers promoted to those ranks are approved to retire at their highest earned rank.

State adjutant general

Each state in the United States has a senior military officer, as the state adjutant general, who is de facto commander of a state's military forces, including the National Guard, the naval militia, and any state defense forces. This officer is known as TAG, and is subordinated to the chief executive.

Washington (state) state of the United States of America

Washington, officially the State of Washington, is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Military career

Daugherty began his military service in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program at Seattle University. He graduated in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and served the following nine years on active duty as an attack helicopter trainee, pilot, and platoon leader. He then transferred to the Washington Army National Guard, where he held high positions in the 66th Theater Aviation Command. Along the way, he earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Seattle University in 1989, a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in 2000, and a certificate from the Command and General Staff College. From 2005 to 2008, he served as the Commander of the 205th Regiment (Leadership). From 2008 to 2009, he served as the Commander of the 66th Theater Aviation Command. He is classified as a Senior Army Aviator. [2]

Washington Army National Guard

The Washington Army National Guard is a component of the United States Army and the Washington National Guard based in Washington. The history of the Washington Army National Guard dates back to 1854 with formation of the Washington Territorial Militia. The command is headquartered at Camp Murray in Pierce County. It consists of 6,200 soldiers in two brigades and various smaller units located throughout the state.

Michael Dubie United States Lieutenant General

Michael D. Dubie is a retired United States Air Force officer who attained the rank of Lieutenant General while serving as the Deputy Commander of United States Northern Command from 2012 to 2015. From 2006 to 2012 he was Adjutant General of the State of Vermont, serving as the senior uniformed officer in the state responsible for the organization, training and equipage of the 4,000 members of the Vermont Army and Air National Guard. As Adjutant General, he also served as inspector general, quartermaster general and head of the State Military Department, including Veterans Affairs.

Early Commissioning Program (ECP) is a U.S. Army ROTC program that allows graduates of one of the nation's four Military Junior Colleges (MJC) to become commissioned officers in the reserve components in two years, instead of the usual four. Upon completion at MJCs, ECP LTs must go on to finish a bachelor's degree before possibly serving as active duty officers or continuing a career in the reserve components. They must graduate within the next 24 months after receiving early commission. While attending their 4-year university, ECP LTs will be serving in a non-deployable status.

Reuben D. Jones is a retired United States Army major general. In his final assignment, he served as the deputy commanding general of operations for the Installation Management Command from June 3, 2011 to Dec. 3, 2012.

Myles Deering United States general

Myles Lynn Deering is a retired Army National Guard Major General who served as the Adjutant General of Oklahoma. Francis D. Vavala American general

General Francis D. Vavala is a retired Army National Guard officer who served as the Adjutant General of the State of Delaware. He received the promotion in February 1999 after the retirement of Major General George Hastings. In January 2017, Vavala was promoted to lieutenant general in the Delaware Militia. In April 2017, Vavala was promoted to general, in the Delaware Militia, in honor of 50 years of service. He is the first Delaware National Guardsman to achieve four-star rank and one of the very few American service members to have risen from Private to 4 Star General.

Major General William A. Cugno was born April 4, 1948, in Waterbury, CT. He was the son of Anthony and Marie Cugno of Harwich, MA. He graduated from Waterbury's Crosby High School in 1967. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT in 1984 and a master's degree in public administration from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA, in 1991.

John S. General Tuohy was responsible to the Adjutant General of Washington, Major General Bret D. Daugherty, "to prepare, implement and administer plans, policies and programs to effectively organize, staff, equip and train units for state and federal mobilization." Additionally, General Tuohy oversaw the Washington Youth Academy, a division of the National Guard Youth Challenge Program in Bremerton, Washington, which provides quasi-military training and mentoring programs for 300 at-risk youths each year. Prior to his last assignment, then-Colonel Tuohy served as the Washington National Guard's Director of United States Property and Fiscal Office, in which capacity he was primarily responsible for receiving and accounting for all funds and property - in excess of $1,300,000,000 - of the United States in the possession of the Washington National Guard and ensuring that Federal funds were "obligated and expended in conformance with applicable statutes and regulations."

William D. Razz Waff

Major General William D. Razz Waff was the United States Department of the Army Deputy GI (Personnel) in Washington D.C., as of 2013, and Chairman, Army Reserve Forces Policy Committee (ARFPC) since January 2014, retiring on 30 September 2015 after over 39 years of service. Previously he served as the Commanding General of the Army Reserve's 99th Regional Support Command from 2010 till 2013. and also as the Senior Commander, Ft Devens, MA and Ft Dix, NJ while serving as the Commanding General, 99th RSC.

Prior to his current assignment, General Evon served as the Assistant Adjutant General for the Connecticut Army National Guard. His promotion to major general was confirmed at the federal level by the U.S. Senate on May 23, 2019.

Aaron R. Dean II United States Army brigadier general

Aaron R. Dean II is a United States Army Brigadier General (BG) and the Adjutant General (TAG) of the District of Columbia National Guard (DCNG). As the TAG for the DCNG, BG Dean is responsible for providing personnel support to both Army and Air National Guard Service Members (SM). BG Dean acts as the auxiliary support to the Commanding General of the DCNG, while concurrently carrying out many responsibilities associated with the District of Columbia's constitution and directives. In addition to this, he is responsible for managing the assets of the entire DCNG. He collaborates with the National Guard Bureau (NGB) concerning funding and administrative and procurement processes that affects the DCNG.
