Brian Douglas Rogers (born July 25,1950,in Blue Hill,Maine) was the 6th chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks from 2009 to 2015. [1]
He graduated from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government,with a master's degree in public administration. He was a free-lance journalist,a legislative aide,a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1979 to 1983,a vice president of finance for the University of Alaska statewide system and a partner and chief financial officer in the consulting firm Information Insights,from 1996 to 2008. [2] He chaired the State of Alaska Long-Range Planning Commission from 1995 to 1996. He was appointed to the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority,by Governor Sarah Palin. [3] He is a director of Alaska Communications Systems Group. [4]
University of Alaska President Mark Hamilton named Brian Rogers permanent chancellor of UAF in May 2009. Rogers had served as interim chancellor since July 2008. A former UAF student,he attended Trinity College and Brown University before receiving his master's degree in public administration from Harvard. Rogers is married to UAF alumna Sherry Modrow. They have two grown sons,both UAF graduates. Rogers is a member of numerous community organizations,including the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce,the Fairbanks Downtown Rotary. Rogers announced in April 2015 his intention to step down from the position in September 2015. [5]
Frances Ann "Fran" Ulmer is an American administrator and Democratic politician from the U.S. state of Alaska. She served as the seventh lieutenant governor of Alaska from 1994 to 2002 under Governor Tony Knowles,becoming the first woman elected to statewide office in Alaska,and lost the 2002 gubernatorial election against Republican Frank Murkowski. In 2007 she became the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA),before serving as Chair of the United States Arctic Research Commission between 2011 and 2020,appointed by President Barack Obama.
Fairbanks is a home rule city and the borough seat of the Fairbanks North Star Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. Fairbanks is the largest city in the Interior region of Alaska and the second largest in the state. The 2020 Census put the population of the city proper at 32,515 and the population of the Fairbanks North Star Borough at 95,655,making it the second most populous metropolitan area in Alaska after Anchorage. The University of Alaska System is a system of public universities in the U.S. state of Alaska. It was created in 1917 and comprises three separately accredited universities on 19 campuses. The system serves nearly 30,000 full- and part-time students and offers 400 unique degree programs.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks is a public land-grant research university in College,Alaska,a suburb of Fairbanks. It is the flagship campus of the University of Alaska system. KSUA is a student-run college radio station licensed to Fairbanks,Alaska,United States. Craig Eaton Campbell is an American politician and businessman who served as the president and CEO of the Alaska Aerospace Corporation (AAC). He joined the corporation as chief operating officer in February 2011,and was appointed president and CEO by the board of directors in October 2012.
Bob Poe is an American businessman and former cabinet member who ran for Governor of Alaska in the 2010 Alaska gubernatorial election. Poe announced his candidacy in January 2009 and was the first Democrat to announce his intention to run for governor. He has worked with various administrations in Alaska under former Governors Bill Sheffield,Steve Cowper,Tony Knowles,and Wally Hickel. On June 14,2010 he announced that he was withdrawing from the gubernatorial race.
The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences,or CFOS,is part of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. CFOS offers a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science in fisheries,master’s and doctoral degrees in oceanography,fisheries and marine biology,and a minor in marine science.
Larry Persily is a newspaper publisher and former Federal Coordinator of the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects 2010–2015. The office was charged with coordinating federal agency responses to private-sector efforts to develop a natural gas pipeline from Alaska's North Slope to supply the North American market. The Federal Coordinator is nominated with advice and consent of the Senate by the President of the United States. He was nominated by Barack Obama on December 9,2009,and was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 10,2010. The office closed down in 2015 as the private companies turned their attention to a gas export project instead.
Linda Kay Manns,was the first Miss Alaska Teen USA in 1983,the year the Miss Teen USA pageant debuted. She appeared in the 1983 Miss Teen USA Pageant telecast from Lakeland,Florida and was a press favorite.
The Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF) is a data processing facility and satellite-tracking ground station within the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The facility’s mission is to make remote-sensing data accessible Its work is central to polar processes research including wetlands,glaciers,sea ice,climate change,permafrost,flooding and land cover such as changes in the Amazon rainforest.
Joe L. Hayes Jr. is an American businessman and politician. From Fairbanks,Alaska,he was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives in November 2000. He was the only African American in the Alaska House during his term. A distinguished alumnus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks,he was elected student body president and as a student appointed by the Alaska Governor to the Statewide University of Alaska board of regents. Hayes worked for a decade as executive director of the UAF Alumni Association.
