Broccoli City Festival is an American music festival founded by Greensboro, North Carolina entrepreneur Brandon McEachern.
McEachern and longtime friend Marcus Allen hosted their first festival event in 2010, in Los Angeles, California to promote their clothing line and Earth Day. Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy, Casey Veggies, Skeme and other popular West Coast artists performed. The Broccoli City Festival was then co-founded in Washington, D.C. in 2013, alongside Darryl Perkins and Jermon Williams, with Big K.R.I.T as the headliner. [1] The festival relocated to Washington, D.C. to promote environmental awareness and health causes in the African-American community. [2]
Rapper Jay-Z was interested in the May 6th, 2017 festival, the year singer and sister-in-law Solange was the headliner. [3] That same year also featured 21 Savage, AlunaGeorge, Lil Yachty and Rae Sremmurd, among other artists.
Previous headliners have included Doja Cat, H.E.R., Megan Thee Stallion, IDK, Burna Boy, Miguel, Migos, Nipsey Hussle, Cardi B, Cam'ron, Future, Jhené Aiko, BJ the Chicago Kid, The Internet, and Anderson .Paak. [1] [4] [5]
In 2019, rappers Childish Gambino and Lil Wayne—with performances by singers Ella Mai and Teyana Taylor, and rappers City Girls, Trippie Redd, and Lil Baby—performed at the festival, which was held at FedEx Field. [6]
The May 7–8, 2022 festival lineup included 21 Savage, Ari Lennox, Babyface Ray, Don Toliver, Gunna, Jeezy, Joyce Wrice, Larry June, Lil Durk, Masego, Muni Young, Rico Nasty, Summer Walker, Tems, Wale, Wizkid and more. The 2022 festival coincided with the launch of BLK Change Weekend, which aims to create a more racially-fair world for Black millennials and Gen Z. [7] [8]
The July 15–16, 2023 festival featured performances by Asake, Brent Faiyaz, Chlöe, Coco Jones, Jazmine Sullivan, Keke Palmer, Mariah the Scientist, Rema and Saucy Santana, as well as rappers such as the City Girls, Fat Trel, Finesse2Tymes, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Kodak Black, LARussell, Lil Uzi Vert, Lola Brooke, OG Bobby Billions, TiaCorine and Tre’ Amani, among others. The HFStival is an annual Washington, D.C. / Baltimore rock festival. It was held every summer from 1990 through 2006 by radio station WHFS. It was held again in 2010 and 2011 in commemoration of the now-defunct station's legacy. At its peak, the HFStival was the largest yearly music festival on the East Coast, drawing 55,000 to 90,000 people. It was held at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C. from 1993 to 2004; at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore in 2005; and at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, in 2006.

Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, professionally known as Spinall, is a Nigerian disc jockey, record producer, and songwriter. He has released six studio albums and collaborated with artists that have included Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Joeboy among others. He has won numerous awards for his work, including All Africa Music Awards and The Beatz Awards. He is also the first Nigerian disc jockey to play at festivals such as Coachella, SXSW, and Glastonbury.
Courtney Shanade Salter, known professionally as Ari Lennox, is an American R&B singer-songwriter from Washington, D.C. She signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records, an imprint of Interscope Records as the former label's first female artist in 2015. She started gaining recognition after the release of her second extended play (EP) and major label debut, Pho (2016). That same year, she made an uncredited guest appearance on Cole's song "Change". Her debut studio album, Shea Butter Baby (2019), was met with critical praise and lukewarm commercial response.
The Roots Picnic is an annual music festival created and hosted by hip hop group, The Roots. Co-founder, Shawn Gee, and manager of The Roots serves as executive producer of the festival. Established in 2015, it is "one of the biggest festivals in the world" according to Complex, while Billboard called it "the be-all of hip-hop festivals". In 2019, an estimated 210,000 people attended the event in Miami.
The 2019 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival took place across two weekends: April 12 to 14 and 19 to 21 at the Empire Polo Club, Indio, California, United States. The three headlining acts were Childish Gambino on Friday, Tame Impala on Saturday, and Ariana Grande on Sunday. The 2019 edition was the twentieth anniversary of the festival.
