Tia Corine Thompson Shults, [1] known professionally as TiaCorine, is an American rapper and songwriter from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. [3] She is best known for her singles "Lotto" and "FreakyT". [4]

Early life

Tia Shults was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to a Shoshone mother and a Japanese-African American father. [2] [5] [6] In the fourth grade, Shults began performing at local talent shows and started taking flute and piano lessons. [2]  She attended Winston-Salem State University and graduated with a degree in exercise physiology, originally planning to become a physician assistant. [2] [7] While in college, she worked as a shift manager at Bojangles. [8] [9]

Career

2017–2021: 34Corine

In 2017, she released her first major single, "Cabbage" with OG Spliff. [10] In late 2019, she signed to the South Coast Music Group record label. [2] [11] On September 4, 2020, she released her debut EP, 34Corine. [4] [12] The album featured the song "Lotto", which received significant traction on TikTok. [4] [6] On May 14, 2021, she released a follow-up to 34Corine titled The Saga of 34Corine, featuring guest appearances from Kenny Beats, DaBaby, and Frais006. [13] [14] On November 27, 2021, she released her second EP, Pussy. [15] [13]

2022–present: I Can't Wait

On September 9, 2022, she released her debut album, I Can't Wait, featuring guest appearances from UnoTheActivist, Kenny Beats, and Tony Shhnow. [16] [14] [17] The album featured the song "FreakyT", which received significant traction on TikTok. [8] [18] She joined Key Glock on his Glockoma Tour from March to April 2023. [4] [19] On April 21, 2023, she released a remix to "FreakyT" featuring rapper Latto. [17] [20] In June 2023, she was announced as member of the 2023 XXL Freshmen Class. [21] [22]

On February 2, 2024, TiaCorine released her fourth EP, Almost There, under South Coast Music Group and Interscope Records with guest appearances from Key Glock, Luh Tyler, and Zelooperz. [23] [24] She performed at her first headlining tour, the Almost There Tour, in March 2024. [25] [26] [27] She featured on the Denzel Curry single "Hot One" alongside ASAP Ferg in June 2024. Artistry

TiaCorine has stated that the music her parents played to her as a child are a major influence on her, including artists such as Queen, Teena Marie, Sade, Sugarhill Gang, A Tribe Called Quest, Luther Vandross, Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, The Notorious B.I.G., and Ginuwine. [30] [31] [32] She has described her music style as "anime trap." [33] [14]

Personal life

Shults has a daughter, born in 2016. [2] [6] [33] She is a fan of anime; her favorite shows include Hunter x Hunter , Inuyasha , Pokémon , and Sailor Moon . [7] [30] [34] She is a fan of streetwear fashion, and is known to wear a diamond chain necklace of Kirby. [7] [35]

In September 2023, she had vocal cord surgery and was unable to speak for two months. [36]

Kossisko Konan, known mononymously as Kossisko and formerly known as 100s, is an American singer/rapper and songwriter from Berkeley, California. In 2012, Kossisko, as rapper 100s, released their debut mixtape Ice Cold Perm. They were signed to Fool's Gold Records in June 2013. Following the release of the single "Ten Freaky Hoes", it was announced that Kossisko would be releasing their second mixtape, an EP titled Ivry, which was released on March 7, 2014, via Fool's Gold. It featured a greater g-funk and disco influence than their debut mixtape. They are also well known for the song "Life of a Mack", which appeared on the soundtrack of the video game Grand Theft Auto V.
