"Broke in a Minute" is a song by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, released on February 7, 2020 [1] as the lead single from his mixtape The New Toronto 3 (2020). The song was produced by Papi Yerr.

Background and composition

Sajae Elder of The Fader described the track as "bass-heavy". [2] Lyrically, the song is about Tory Lanez becoming rich; he also sings about how he used to work at Denny's and name-drops many brand names. [2] [3] [4] In an Instagram post promoting the song's music video, Lanez revealed that "Broke in a Minute" was originally a freestyle to "Shotta Flow" by NLE Choppa. [4]

An accompanying music video was released alongside the single. It features Tory Lanez showing his luxurious products and money, and dancing. [4] [5]

This is the follow-up release to his second album Memories Don't Die which was released seven months prior. The production on the album was handled by multiple producers including Foreign Teck, OZ, Smash David, Cassius Jay, CashMoneyAP and NES among others. The album also features guest appearances by Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, Rich the Kid, Lil Baby, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Trippie Redd, Nav, Gunna and Bryson Tiller among others.

The New Toronto 3 is a commercial mixtape by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez. It was released on April 10, 2020 by Interscope Records. It serves as his final release with Interscope, and the third installment in the New Toronto series. The New Toronto 3 follows four months after Lanez's prior release Chixtape 5, released as an album in a series of mixtapes. The production on the mixtape was handled by multiple producers including Foreign Teck, Play Picasso, Supah Mario, Cassius Jay, Don Cannon and C-Sick among others. The mixtape also features guest appearances by Mansa and Lil Tjay.

"Can I" is a song recorded by American singer Kehlani featuring Canadian singer and rapper Tory Lanez. It was sent to rhythmic contemporary radio on June 3, 2020, as the lead single from Kehlani's second album It Was Good Until It Wasn't (2020). A video dedicated to sex workers was released on July 30, in which Lanez does not appear. Kehlani announced that Lanez's verse would be omitted from the album's planned deluxe edition, shortly after he was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm in his vehicle, an incident in which rapper Megan Thee Stallion was shot.
