Bulgarian Eagle was an aircraft-crew-maintenance-insurance (ACMI) carrier founded in 2017. It was a subsidiary of Germania and was founded to increase Germania's presence in the wet-lease market. [1]
Bulgarian Eagle received its Air Operator's Certificate on July 31, 2017. [2]
Between August 2017 and February 2019, Bulgarian Eagle operated flights for the Germania Group with 2 Airbus A319 aircraft wearing the Germania livery with the inscription "Operated by Bulgarian Eagle" on the fuselage. The airline planned to operate scheduled flights in the future. [3]
Following the insolvency of Germania in February 2019, Bulgarian Eagle ceased all operations.

The A319 carries 124 to 156 passengers and has a maximum range of 3,700 nmi. Final assembly of the aircraft takes place in Hamburg, Germany and Tianjin, China.

The change in strategy led to growth over its last few years, and Germania operated to destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East from several German bases. It carried 2.5 million passengers in 2009 and had around 850 employees as of summer 2014. It declared bankruptcy on 4 February 2019 and it ceased operations on 5 February 2019.
