Bychowskicotylidae is a family of monogeneans in the order Mazocraeidea. [2] The name of the family, and of its type-genus Bychowskicotyle , was created to honour Boris Evseevitch Bychowsky, a Soviet scientist and parasitologist, specialist of monogeneans.

Satyu Yamaguti was a Japanese parasitologist, entomologist, and helminthologist. He was a specialist of mosquitoes and helminths such as digeneans, monogeneans, cestodes, acanthocephalans and nematodes. He also worked on the parasitic crustaceans Copepoda and Branchiura. Satyu Yamaguti wrote more than 60 scientific papers and, more importantly, several huge monographs which are still in use by scientists all over the world and were cited over 1,000 times each.

Boris Bychowsky

Boris Evseevitch Bychowsky was a Soviet scientist and parasitologist, specialist of fish parasites, especially monogeneans. He was director of the Institute of Zoology of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg (1962–1974). Bychowsky is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, mostly on systematics of monogeneans. His most famous work was his monography on monogeneans (1957), which was translated into English in 1961.
