Gilles Vigneault is a Canadian poet, publisher, singer-songwriter, and Quebec nationalist and sovereigntist. Two of his songs are considered by many to be Quebec's unofficial anthems: "Mon pays" and "Gens du pays", and his line Mon pays ce n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver became a proverb in Quebec. Téléphone was a French rock band formed in 1976. Their first, self-titled album was released in 1977; by the end of the decade they were one of the biggest French rock bands in the world, opening shows for The Rolling Stones in Paris, Quebec, the United States and Japan. The band split in 1986 for personal reasons. They have sold around 10 million albums to date, a record still unbeaten for a French rock band.

Trois mélodies is a set of mélodies for solo voice and piano, by Gabriel Fauré. It consists of "Après un rêve", one of Faure's most popular vocal pieces, "Hymne", and "Barcarolle". The songs were written between 1870 and 1877, and published in 1878. They were not, however, originally conceived together as a set of three; the opus number 7 was imposed on them retrospectively in the 1890s, almost 20 years after their first publications.

The album was released on 28 November 1990 and spawned six singles which achieved success in France : "Nuit" (#6), "À nos actes manqués" (#2), "Né en 17 à Leidenstadt" (#11), "C'est pas l'amour" (#11), "Un, deux, trois" (#8) and "Tu manques" (#12). The album itself was successful : it debuted at number one on 4 January 1991 and stayed there for eight consecutive weeks. It was ranked for 51 weeks in the top ten and 87 weeks in the top 50. It was recorded between August and November 1991 in Vienna, Aix-les-Bains and Lyon and was released on 26 November 1992. It spawned a sole single which achieved success in France : "Il suffira d'un signe (live)" (#14), which was originally recorded for Goldman's first studio album, Démodé.

Fais que ton rêve soit plus long que la nuit is an album by Vangelis Papathanassiou only released in France and Greece Recorded in 1971 and released in 1972 with the subtitle Poeme Symphonique, the entire theme of the record focuses on May 1968 in France and the student riots taking place there at the time. The album consists of a sound collage of music, field recordings, news snippets, protest songs and paroles. One of the choruses was later reworked as "Athenes ma ville" on Melina Mercouri's 1974 album Si Melina m'était contée. Translated the title reads, "Make your dream outlast the night."

Granville is a French pop band formed in Caen in January 2011 and made up of Mélissa Dubourg (vocals), Sofian El Gharrafi, Nathan Bellanger (bass) and Arthur Allizard (drums). Sofian and Nathan, were earlier in the band Chocolate Donuts. The name is a tribute Granville, Manche in Lower Normandy where all members find attachment. They play mostly 1960s-influenced music described by Le Point as a mix of "Anglo-saxon rock-garage music and melodies of French yéyé revisited". Another magazine Les Inrockuptibles called their music "disc pop very precisely American charm that brought a West Coast wind, it is a dozen romantic and naive ballads".
