Lieutenant Colonel Charles Bruce Pickette is an American retired military officer in the United States Army Signal Corps who served as the 115th president general of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution from 2022 to 2023.
Pickette was born in Fort Lewis,Washington. [1] He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1964. [1] He graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1968 with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education and history. [2] While in college,he served in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. [3] He later earned a master's degree in business administration from the New York Institute of Technology and a master's degree in library science from the Catholic University of America. [4]
He was commissioned in the United States Army Signal Corps and served for twenty-four years,retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1992. [4] Following retirement from the military,Pickette worked in information technology for defense contractor companies,retiring in 2007. [4]
Pickette joined the National Society Sons of the American Revolution in 2002 and served as the Alabama state president of the society from 2010 to 2011. [2] In 2017,he was named Minuteman of the SAR,the organization's highest honor. [4] From 2022 to 2023,he served as the president general of the national society. [4] Pickette was installed as the president general during a ceremony at the 132nd Congress in Savannah,Georgia. [5]
He also served as the society's registrar general. [1] Pickette is on the board of the SAR Foundation. [6]
On September 10,2022,Pickette laid a wreath on behalf of the Sons of the American Revolution at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. [7]
On May 1,2023,he was a guest speaker at a wreath-laying ceremony hosted by the Sons of the American Revolution at the site of the Colonial Courthouse in Halifax,North Carolina. [8] On June 26,2023,he spoke at the opening ceremony of the 132nd Continental Congress of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington,D.C. [9]
Pickette lives in Montgomery,Alabama with his wife,Rita. [2] They have two children. [2]

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a lineage-based membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a patriot of the American Revolutionary War. A non-profit group,the organization promotes education and patriotism. Its membership is limited to direct lineal descendants of soldiers or others of the American Revolution era who aided the revolution and its subsequent war. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a birth certificate indicating that their gender is female. DAR has over 190,000 current members in the United States and other countries. The organization's motto is "God,Home,and Country".

Fort McClellan,originally Camp McClellan,is a decommissioned United States Army post located adjacent to the city of Anniston,Alabama. During World War II,it was one of the largest U.S. Army installations,training an estimated half-million troops. After the war it became the home of the Military Police Corps,the Chemical Corps and the Women's Army Corps. From 1975 until it was closed in 1999,Fort McClellan was home of the Military Police Corps and the One Station Unit Training (OSUT) Military Police School. Also after World War II until it was closed in 1999,it was home of the Chemical Corps School,which trained soldiers in chemical warfare. In 1988,Fort McClellan was used as an alternate training academy for the United States Border Patrol. Before its closure by the Base Realignment and Closure commission (BRAC),the post employed about 10,000 military personnel and about 1,500 civilians. It underwent unexploded ordnance (UXO) clean up from 2003 to 2014. Since 2010,about 3,000 acres of the post's brownfield land have been redeveloped as a mixed-use community. The portion of the post which has not been redeveloped is currently owned by the Alabama Army National Guard and is used as a training facility for units from all across the state,also housing the Alabama Army National Guard’s Officer Candidate School,for enlisted soldiers looking to earn their commission.
The National Society Children of the American Revolution (NSCAR) is a youth organization that was founded on April 5,1895,by Harriett Lothrop. The idea was proposed on February 22,1895,at the Fourth Continental Congress of the National Society,Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The organization was promptly chartered by the United States Congress,and is now the nation's oldest and largest,patriotic youth organization. NSCAR offers membership to anyone under the age of 22 who is lineally descended from someone who served in the Continental Army or gave material aid to the cause of freedom in the American Revolution.

Joseph Cabell Breckinridge Sr. was a Union Army officer from Kentucky during the American Civil War. In later life,he became a brigadier general in the U.S. Regular Army and Inspector General of the Army as well as a major general of volunteers in the Spanish–American War.

Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) in the Philippines is one of three components of the National Service Training Program,the civic education and defense preparedness program for Filipino college students. ROTC aims to provide military education and training for students to mobilize them for national defense preparedness. Since 2022,she has served as the President General of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She is the second Texan to serve as the national society's president general. In 2022,Wright was presented with the Yellow Rose of Texas Award by Governor Greg Abbott for charitable contributions and volunteerism in Texas.
Lena Lorraine Santos Ferguson was an American secretary and Civil Rights advocate. Ferguson was denied membership to a local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1980 due to her race,after applying multiple times. She was admitted to the organization as an at-large member in 1983,becoming the second known African-American member. Ferguson pushed for the Daughters of the American Revolution to revise their national bylaws,leading to the organization banning discrimination based on race. She later founded,and served as chair,of the D.C. DAR Scholarship Committee. Ferguson was honored with a memorial plaque in the garden at DAR Constitution Hall in 2023.

Florence A. Hague Becker,also known as Mrs. William A. Becker,was an American philanthropist and anti-communist activist who served as the 16th president general of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. As president general,she led the national society through the Great Depression,developing an employee retirement fund,restoring employee salaries to pre-Depression levels,and focusing on children's educational and nutritional needs. She was recruited by Congressman John W. McCormack to compile a report on Communist propaganda being distributed to American youth. She used her position to speak out against Communism and the Socialist Movement.
