C. Donald Alston is a retired major general in the United States Air Force.
Alston graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1978. [1] He was then sent to Sheppard Air Force Base and Vandenberg Air Force Base for intercontinental ballistic missile combat crew training. In 1979, he became a deputy missile combat crew commander with the 571st Strategic Missile Squadron and the 390th Strategic Missile Wing. With the 390th, he also served as an instructor. In 1981, he was named a LGM-25C Titan II missile combat crew commander with the 570th Strategic Missile Squadron before returning to the 390th as an emergency war order training instructor in 1982.
From 1984 to 1987, Alston served as chief, Emergency War Order Training Branch and chief, Plans Division, Directorate of Missiles, Headquarters 15th Air Force. In 1987, he became Congressional inquiries officer, United States House of Representatives, Air Force legislative liaison in the Office of the United States Secretary of the Air Force. He later became liaison officer. In 1991, he was named executive assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force.
Alston held command of the 12th Missile Squadron from 1993 to 1994. In 1995, he became deputy director Commander's Action Group, Headquarters Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base. He later became executive officer to the vice commander, as well as chief, Requirements Integration Branch and chief, Integration Division, Directorate of Plans at Headquarters Air Force Space Command.
From 1999 to 2001, he served as commander of the 341st Operations Group at Malmstrom Air Force Base before returning to Peterson Air Force Base as vice commander of the 21st Space Wing. He was then given command of the 341st Space Wing at Malmstrom before again returning to Headquarters Air Force Space Command as assistant director air and space operations.
In 2005, Alston deployed to serve in the Iraq War with the Multi-National Force - Iraq. He served as deputy chief of staff, strategic communications, and chief, Communications Division, Strategic Effects of the Mult-National Force – Iraq. Additionally, he served as the command's spokesperson.
After returning to the United States, Alston was named director of air, space and information operations at Headquarters Air Force Space Command. In 2007, he was transferred to The Pentagon and became director, space and nuclear operations in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Air, Space and Information Operations, Plans and Requirements. He later became director, nuclear operations, and assistant chief of staff, strategic defense and nuclear integration.
In 2010, Alston was named commander of the Twentieth Air Force. In June 2012, Alston retired from military service, and was replaced as commander of the Twentieth Air Force.
Awards he has received include the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Outstanding Unit Award with silver and three oak leaf clusters, the Organizational Excellence Award, the Combat Readiness Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with service star and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
General Larry D. Welch is a retired United States Air Force four-star general who served as the 12th Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. As Chief of Staff, he served as the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training and equipping of a combined active duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian force serving at locations in the United States and overseas. As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he and the other service chiefs functioned as the principal military advisers to the Secretary of Defense, National Security Council and the President. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Nuclear Weapon Surety Task Force for the Defense Science Board.
Claude Robert "Bob" Kehler, is a retired United States Air Force general who served as Commander, United States Strategic Command from January 28, 2011, to November 15, 2013. He previously served as Commander, Air Force Space Command from October 12, 2007, to January 5, 2011. As a commander of the Air Force Space Command, he was responsible for the development, acquisition and operation of the Air Force's space and missile systems. He oversaw a global network of satellite command and control, communications, missile warning and launch facilities, and ensured the combat readiness of America's intercontinental ballistic missile force. He led more than 39,700 space professionals in providing combat forces and capabilities to North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Strategic Command. He was also responsible for the plans and operations for all U.S. forces conducting strategic deterrence and Department of Defense space and cyberspace operations. He officially retired from the Air Force on January 1, 2014, after nearly 39 years of service.
Joseph James Nazzaro was commander in chief of Pacific Air Forces with headquarters at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii and commander in chief of Strategic Air Command with headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
George Lee Butler, sometimes known as Lee Butler, is an American retired military officer. He was commander in chief, United States Strategic Command, and the last commander of Strategic Air Command. Following his retirement from the military he became active in the nuclear disarmament movement, calling for the outright abolition of nuclear weapons.
Lieutenant General Larry D. James is a former senior officer in the United States Air Force and is currently a civilian NASA administrator. He is the deputy director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he also acted as the interim director from August 21, 2021 to May 16, 2022. He acts as the Laboratory's Chief Operating Officer responsible to the Director for the day-to-day management of JPL's resources and activities. This includes managing the Laboratory's solar system exploration, Mars, astronomy, physics, Earth science, interplanetary network programs, and all business operations. These activities employ 5000 scientists, engineers, technicians, and business support personnel, generating $1.8 billion in annual revenues. Prior to his current role, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Headquarters United States Air Force. James' prior commands included the 14th Air Force and Joint Functional Component Command for Space from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
Richard E. Webber is a retired United States Air Force major general. He was the first commander of the Twenty-Fourth Air Force, which was focused on cyberspace operations. The Twenty-Fourth Air Force was located in San Antonio, Texas, and was stood up in place of the originally proposed larger Major Command organization, Air Force Cyber Command. Webber graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1975 and has worked in the space and missile career field.

J. Gregory Pavlovich is a former brigadier general in the United States Air Force he joined in 1975 and retired in 2005. After being assigned to units within Europe he returned to the United States, and became executive program director in the Office of the Inspector General, U.S. Department of Defense. In 1994, he was named chief of strategic planning and business process integration at the Defense Logistics Agency. The following year, he became assistant executive director of the Readiness Group. In 1998, he became the vice commander of the 341st Space Wing. He assumed command of the wing later that year. In 2000, he was assigned to Air Force Space Command as deputy director of operations. He became commander of the 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base.
