The Coastal Athletic Association men's soccer tournament is the annual conference championship tournament for the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). The tournament has been held every year since 1983, when the CAA began sponsoring a men's soccer program.

Contents

Format

Presently, the Coastal Athletic Association Men's Soccer Tournaments features six conference teams that have the best conference regular season record. [1] The regular season champion and runner-up receive byes to the semifinal round. The third through six-placed teams play in a play-in round at the site of the higher seed. The winners take on the top two seeds, which is hosted at the site of the team that wins the regular season. The champion earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.

    The NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament, sometimes known as the College Cup, is an American intercollegiate soccer tournament conducted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and determines the Division I men's national champion. The tournament was formally held in 1959, when it was an eight-team tournament. Since then, the tournament has expanded to 48 teams, in which every Division I conference tournament champion is allocated a berth. Most of its members are public universities, and the conference is headquartered in Richmond. The CAA was historically a Southern conference until the addition of four schools in the Northeastern United States after the turn of the 21st century, which added geographic balance to the conference.

The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of two rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Hofstra Pride, who successfully defendeded their title, despite being the eighth and final team to qualify for the tournament. Hofstra won the tournament by defeating Northeastern 2–1 in overtime the final. The conference tournament title was the eighth overall for the Hofstra women's soccer program and the seventh overall for head coach Simon Riddiough. Both Hofstra and Riddiough have won five of the last six CAA Tournaments. As tournament champions, Hofstra earned the CAA's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.

The First Round and Semifinals of the tournament were hosted by the first and second seed and the final was hosted by the highest remaining seed. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Hofstra Pride, who were unable to defend their title, falling to Monmouth in the Semifinals. Towson won the tournament by defeating Monmouth in the Final, 2–1. The conference tournament title was the first overall for the Towson women's soccer program and the first for head coach Katherine Vettori. As tournament champions, Towson earned the CAA's automatic berth into the 2023 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.

    The 2023 CAA men's soccer tournament was the postseason men's soccer tournament for the Coastal Athletic Association held from November 2 through November 11, 2023. The five-match tournament took place at campus sites, with the higher seed hosting. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Hofstra Pride. They were able to successfully defend their title, as the top overall seed they defeated the second seed Monmouth 2–1 in overtime in the Final. The First Round and Semifinals of the tournament were hosted by the first and second seed and the final was hosted by the highest remaining seed. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Towson, who were unable to defend their title, after not qualifying for the tournament. They finished in a three-way tie for fifth in the regular season standings, but lost the tiebreakers to not qualify for the tournament. Stony Brook won the tournament by defeating Monmouth in the Final, 2–1. The conference tournament title was the first overall for the Stony Brook women's soccer program and the first for head coach Tobias Bischof. Stony Brook had previously won three America East conference tournament titles, but this was their first CAA title after moving to the conference in 2022. As tournament champions, Stony Brook earned the CAA's automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.
