Certified Human Resources Professional or CHRP is a designation achieved by human resources professionals in Ontario. [1]

As of October 2016, the CHRP designation outside of Ontario has been rebranded as the CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources). The rebrand occurred after Ontario's provincial HR association, the HRPA (Human Resources Professional Association), left the national body, and unilaterally created a three-tiered designation for their province. They also relegated the formerly single-tier CHRP designation, to the entry-level tier of their system. This meant that the rest of Canada's HR associations had to either accept the HRPA's three-tiered model themselves or retain the nationally recognized CHRP designation under a different name. [2] Established in 1994, the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Canada is a collaborative effort of human resources associations in nationally, formerly known as Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA). [3] In 2016, the CCHRA and the member associations agreed to change the national HR designation to CPHR™, and the new entity CPHR Canada was created.

It is designed to maximize employee performance in service of an employer's strategic objectives. Human resource management is primarily concerned with the management of people within organizations, focusing on policies and systems. HR departments are responsible for overseeing employee-benefits design, employee recruitment, training and development, performance appraisal, and reward management, such as managing pay and employee-benefits systems. Chartered accountant Professional designation for accountants

Chartered accountants were the first accountants to form a professional accounting body, initially established in Scotland in 1854. The Edinburgh Society of Accountants (1854), the Glasgow Institute of Accountants and Actuaries (1854) and the Aberdeen Society of Accountants (1867) were each granted a royal charter almost from their inception. The title is an internationally recognised professional designation; the certified public accountant designation is generally equivalent to it. Women were able to become chartered accountants only following the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act 1919 after which, in 1920, Mary Harris Smith was recognised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and became the first woman chartered accountant in the world.

Certified General Accountants Association of Canada

Founded in 1908, the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) serves Certified General Accountants and students in Canada and nearly 100 countries. CGA-Canada established the designation's certification requirements and professional standards, offers professional development, conducts research and advocacy, and represents CGAs nationally and internationally. CGA-Canada joined the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada to integrate operations under the CPA banner in 2015. CPA Canada is the new national accounting body formed by the merger of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) and the Society of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) in 2013, and now Certified General Accountants.

In Canada, the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) is a certifying exam administered by the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations. It is the first step that an individual must take in order to obtain their Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. The National Knowledge Exam is offered in the spring and fall of each year. The NKE exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions, which must be completed within a three-hour time frame. The passing grade for the NKE is 70 per cent. Candidates who obtain this standard or higher are then classified as "CHRP Candidates" and they are eligible to move on to the National Professional Practice Assessment (NPPA).

The National Professional Practice Assessment is no longer used to assess human resources experience.
