The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team represents California State University, Bakersfield in the NCAA Division I college baseball. Cal State Bakersfield plays its home games on Hardt Field on the campus of California State University, Bakersfield in Bakersfield, California. The Roadrunners have played in one NCAA tournament. Over their eight seasons in the Western Athletic Conference, they have won one WAC regular season title and one WAC tournament. The Roadrunners compete in the Big West Conference and are led by head coach Jeremy Beard.

Since the program's inception in 2009, two Roadrunners have gone on to play in Major League Baseball, relief pitcher Austin Davis, and knuckleball pitcher Mickey Jannis. Over the program's 12 seasons, 20 Roadrunners have been drafted, including Darius Vines who was selected in the seventh round of the 2019.

Hardt Field

Hardt Field is a baseball stadium on the California State University, Bakersfield campus in Bakersfield, California that seats 900 people. [2] It was opened on February 20, 2009 in a 7–8 loss to Saint Louis. [3]

A new stadium, Hardt Field, was built on the CSUB campus during the off-season and opened on opening day of the 2009 season.

The Roadrunners, led by sixth-year head coach Rod Barnes, played their home games at the Icardo Center as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 25–10, 12–2 in WAC play to win the regular season WAC championship. They defeated Utah Valley to advance to the championship game of the WAC tournament where they lost to New Mexico State. As a regular season conference champion who failed to win their conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament. As a No. 8 seed, they defeated California, Colorado State, and Texas–Arlington to become the first No. 8 seed to advance to the semifinals since the NIT introduced seeding in 2006. In the semifinals at Madison Square Garden they lost to Georgia Tech.

Jeremy Beard is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners. He played college baseball at Linn–Benton Community College from 1992 to 1993 before transferring to Oregon State where he played for coach Pat Casey.

The 2018–19 Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners men's basketball team represented California State University, Bakersfield in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Roadrunners were led by eighth-year head coach Rod Barnes and competed at the Icardo Center. CSU Bakersfield was a member of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 18–16, 7–9 in WAC play to finish in a tie for fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament to Texas–Rio Grande Valley. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Cal State Fullerton in the first round to win the Riley Wallace Classic and defeated Southern Utah in the second round before losing in the quarterfinals to Green Bay.

The 2019–20 Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners men's basketball team represented California State University, Bakersfield in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Roadrunners were led by ninth-year head coach Rod Barnes and played their home games at the Icardo Center as member of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 12–19, 6–10 in WAC play to finish in seventh place. They were set to be the No. 7 seed in the WAC tournament, however, the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020–21 Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners men's basketball team represented California State University, Bakersfield during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by tenth-year head coach Rod Barnes, and played their home games at Icardo Center in Bakersfield, California as a first-year member of the Big West Conference.
