Calathus jakupicensis is a species of ground beetle from the Platyninae subfamily that is endemic to North Macedonia. [1]
It was described by Borislav V. Guéorguiev who discovered it on Karadzica mountain in North Macedonia in 2008. [2] It was named after the massif it was discovered on.
Augustia is a genus of cave-dwelling leiodid beetle from Herzegovina in the subtribe Bathysciina. Its type and only species is Augustia weiratheri. The first specimens of Augustia weiratheri were collected by the biospeleologist Leo Weirather, from a cave in Čvrsnica that he nicknamed "Vuk jama". Weirather obscured his collection localities using code names in order to guard them from less scrupulous collectors. The species was described and named by Ricardo Zariquiey in 1927. Augustia shares several characteristics with Henrotiella and Weiratheria, and is probably closely related to them. Augustia weiratheri are 3 mm long and reddish.

The Shebenik-Jabllanicë National Park is a national park in eastern Albania adjacent to the border with North Macedonia. It encompasses 339.277 square kilometres (33,927.7 ha) and is specifically marked by a mountainous landscape supplied with glacial lakes, valleys, dense coniferous and deciduous forests and alpine meadows and pastures. Elevations in the park vary from 300 metres to over 2,200 metres above the Adriatic at the peak of Shebenik and Jabllanica, hence the name. It dwells a number of endangered species that are fast becoming rare in Southern Europe, including the brown bear, gray wolf and balkan lynx. The abundance in wildlife can in part be explained by the variety of vegetation types and remote location.
