The California Legislative Progressive Caucus is a California political organization composed of progressive members of the California State Assembly. It was formed in 2019 and currently has 27 members. [1]
The caucus is chaired by Assembly Member Alex Lee (D-San Jose). [3]
Guiding principles for the caucus include "fighting for economic justice and economic security for all, protecting and preserving civil rights and civil liberties, promoting secure and peaceful communities for all residents, and advancing environmental protection and climate change policies." [4]
Barbara Jean Lee is an American politician who served as a U.S. representative from California from 1998 to 2025. A member of the Democratic Party, Lee represented California's 12th congressional district, which is based in Oakland and covers most of the northern part of Alameda County. According to the Cook Partisan Voting Index, it is one of the nation's most Democratic districts, with a rating of D+40.
The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is made up of Black members of the United States Congress. Representative Yvette Clarke from New York, the current chairperson, succeeded Steven Horsford from Nevada in 2025.
