Kingston is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is located on the north-eastern end of Lake Ontario, at the beginning of the St. Lawrence River and at the mouth of the Cataraqui River. The city is midway between Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. Kingston is also located nearby the Thousand Islands, a tourist region to the east, and the Prince Edward County tourist region to the west. Kingston is nicknamed the "Limestone City" because of the many heritage buildings constructed using local limestone.

Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) was a secondary school in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1792 by Reverend John Stuart based upon a grant for secondary education in the colony of Upper Canada, it moved to its location at 235 Frontenac Street in 1892. It is considered the oldest public secondary school in Ontario and the second oldest in Canada. The site and remaining buildings have been purchased by Queen's University in 2021.

Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI) is a secondary school located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It is commonly referred to as simply "LC". The school is located at 153 Van Order Drive in the city's Calvin Park neighbourhood. It was built to serve newly developed areas in what was then the west end of the city, where thousands of new homes were being built in the early 1960s. Loyalist was the third public high school in the city, and was needed to accommodate the first wave of the baby boom generation then entering their teen years. Construction began in 1962 and classes began in fall 1963. The official opening was held October 6, 1964.

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) or Special School District Number 1 is a public school district serving students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Minneapolis Public Schools enrolls 36,370 students in public primary and secondary schools. The district administers about one hundred public schools including forty-five elementary schools, seven middle schools, seven high schools, eight special education schools, eight alternative schools, nineteen contract alternative schools, and five charter schools. With authority granted by the state legislature, the school board makes policy, selects the superintendent, and oversees the district's budget, curriculum, personnel, and facilities. Students speak ninety different languages at home and most school communications are printed in English, Hmong, Spanish, and Somali.
École secondaire publique Mille-Îles is a high school in Kingston, Ontario. It was founded in 1994 and was initially started as a French program within Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) in 1977. In 1980, it became a separate module serving students in grades 9 to OAC. The establishment of a distinct francophone public high school was first suggested in 1987, and the project came to fruition in 1994, which led to the inauguration of Mille-Îles as a distinct entity in 1995, still within the KCVI building. The school moved to its present location, the former location of Calvin Park Public School, in 1999, when it also expanded to welcome students in grades 7 and 8.

Most provincial allocations per students do not include the maintenance and operation of buildings, as most provincial governments offer additional grants.

Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies (SCAS), formerly Tabor Park Vocational School is an alternative and adult high school serving Scarborough, a part of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It operates under the Toronto District School Board and was previously part of the pre-amalgamated board, Scarborough Board of Education prior to merger. Originated at Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute in 1977 as the re-entry program, the school opened in 1986 at the Tabor Park building and as of 2010, the school is located in the campus of the former Midland Avenue Collegiate Institute sharing with the fellow schools, South East Year Round Alternative Centre and Caring and Safe Schools Alternative Program Area C. SCAS is located on Midland Avenue south of Eglinton Avenue East.
