Camp Lo is an American hip hop duo, formed in 1995, which hails from The Bronx, New York. [1] The duo consists of rappers Sonny Cheeba (Salahadeen Wilds) and Geechi Suede (Saladine Wallace). [2] The duo is perhaps best known for their 1997 hit "Luchini AKA This Is It".
Initially signed with Profile Records, Camp Lo made their first appearance in 1996 on The Great White Hype soundtrack, with their single, "Coolie High". The smooth party song was a minor hit, peaking at #25 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. Their first major exposure came with the release of their second single, the upbeat, horn-driven "Luchini", otherwise known as "This Is It". The song became a crossover hit in 1997, breaking into the Top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, and reaching the top 5 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. The track peaked at #74 in the UK Singles Chart in August 1997. [3] The duo released their debut album Uptown Saturday Night in January 1997. [1] The effort was widely acclaimed, praised for its accessible content and smooth, funk- and jazz-inspired production. [1]
The majority of the album was produced by Ski, famous for his work with Jay-Z. [1] Guest appearances were provided by De La Soul's Trugoy and Digable Planets' Butterfly. [1] The album's 1970s styled content was influential on a number of artists within the next few years after its release, like Will Smith, who enlisted Camp Lo for an appearance on his top-selling Big Willie Style album. Also in 1997, they appeared on Oran "Juice" Jones' single "Poppin' That Fly". They collaborated with De La Soul in 2000, on the song "So Good" from the Hip Hop 101 Compilation. They finally returned with another album in 2002, titled Let's Do It Again . This effort was not nearly as well-received as their debut, and was met with mediocre reviews and sales. Shortly after the album's release, Aesop Rock enlisted the duo to appear on his album Bazooka Tooth , exposing them to fans of the underground Definitive Jux label. In 2007, the duo returned with Black Hollywood after a five-year hiatus from their previous release.
In April 2008, Camp Lo signed with SRC/Universal Records and changed its name to the Lo, on the recommendation from DJ Mr. Cee. The duo released a new single titled "Lumdi", [4] produced by Korleon. [5] [6] They also confirmed a 2011 release for a new collaboration album with Pete Rock, as they form their new group '80 Blocks From Tiffanys'.
In 2012, Geechi Suede collaborated with TheeKIDICARUS on a song "Ask About Me" where TheeKIDICARUS would produce the track.[ citation needed ]
In 2013, Geechi Suede was featured on the song "21st Century" from #TheRevival, a compilation album by Philly-based rappers/producers Franz Kafka and The TradeMark Experience.[ citation needed ]
In May 2015, Camp Lo released a song titled "Black Jesus" via 2DOPEBOYZ in anticipation for their 5th album titled Ragtime Hightimes.[ citation needed ] On May 18, 2015, Camp Lo released their album Ragtime Hightimes.[ citation needed ]
In 2016, Sonny Cheeba featured on The Avalanches' song "Because I'm Me" on the album Wildflower . [7]
On September 22, 2017, Camp Lo released the first of three A Piece of the Action albums series, leading up to their sixth album titled The Get Down Brothers. [8]

Jodeci is an American R&B quartet consisting of members DeVanté Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and JoJo. Formed in 1988 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jodeci began as a duo of DeVanté Swing and JoJo but later each added their brothers. After signing with Uptown Records in 1990, the group finished work on their debut album, Forever My Lady (1991), which brought them mainstream success with three straight Billboard R&B No. 1 hit singles: the album's titular track, "Stay" and "Come and Talk to Me".

M.O.P. is an American hip hop duo composed of East Coast rappers Billy Danze and Lil' Fame. The group has frequently collaborated with DJ Premier and is part of the Gang Starr Foundation. Fame sometimes produces under the moniker Fizzy Womack, and has produced tracks on every M.O.P. release since 1996's Firing Squad. Black Moon is an American underground hip hop group from Brooklyn, New York. The group was most notable for their debut album Enta da Stage, and their affiliation with the Boot Camp Clik. As of 2024, the group has released four studio albums.
Boot Camp Clik is an American hip hop supergroup from Brooklyn, New York City, which is composed of Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah and O.G.C.. Most of the members are from Brownsville, but Buckshot is from Crown Heights and Tek is from Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Dah Shinin' is the debut studio album by American East Coast hip hop duo Smif-N-Wessun. It was released on January 10, 1995, via Wreck/Nervous Records. Recording sessions took place at D&D Studios in New York City. Production was handled by Da Beatminerz. It features a guest appearance from the Boot Camp Clik. The album peaked at number 59 on the Billboard 200. The production is the signature Beatminerz sound which is elevated from their work on Black Moon’s 1993 effort ‘Enta da Stage’. The album spawned 4 singles: Bucktown/Let’s Git It On, Wrekonize/Sound Bwoy Burriel, Wrekonize (Remix)/Sound Bwoy Burriel (edit) and Wontime. Uptown Saturday Night is the debut studio album from American hip hop group Camp Lo, released January 28, 1997, on Profile Records and distributed through Arista Records. The album was largely produced by Ski and spawned the hit single "Luchini AKA This Is It".
"Feelin' It" is the fourth and final single from rapper Jay-Z's debut album Reasonable Doubt. The song features a chorus sung by Mecca and a beat produced by Ski. The song's beat contains a sample from "Pastures" by jazz musician Ahmad Jamal. The track was originally meant to be a Camp Lo song, but producer Ski gave it to Jay at the last minute. He describes the situation in an XXL Magazine article:
It was me and Geechi Suede from Camp Lo, it was my hook and everything. Jay heard it and was like, "I want that record. I don't care what you do, I want that record." I didn't want to give it to him, but I had to because I knew he was going to be the man at the time. So I said, "Fuck it, take the record." It really was me and Suede from Camp Lo, the flow and everything, the way he was flowing on it. That's the way we was flowing on it. So he just took the whole thing. But you know, he killed it in his own way.
A Lighter Shade of Brown (LSOB) is an American hip hop duo from Riverside, California. So Far Gone is the debut extended play by Canadian rapper Drake. It was released on September 15, 2009 by Cash Money Records, Universal Motown Records and Young Money Entertainment. This is his reissued project from his third mixtape that was released earlier on February 13, 2009. This EP features five tracks from the mixtape, with the inclusions of two new songs. The EP features guest appearances from Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Bun B and Young Jeezy. "Luchini AKA This Is It" is the first single released from Camp Lo's debut album, Uptown Saturday Night. The song was produced by up-and-coming producer Ski and used a sample of Dynasty's 1980 song "Adventures in the Land of Music" and the drums from "All Night Long" by the Mary Jane Girls.
"Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)" is the debut single by American East Coast hip hop duo Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz, released in December 1997 through Columbia Records from their debut studio album Make It Reign. Produced by KNS, the song peaked at number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100, at number 21 on the UK Singles Chart, at number 29 on the Official New Zealand Music Chart, and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America on March 31, 1998, for sales of a million copies. However, the duo's success would be short-lived, as they broke up in 1999 without releasing a follow-up album or single.
Black Sheep is an American hip hop duo from Queens, New York, United States, composed of Andres "Dres" Vargas Titus and William "Mista Lawnge" McLean. The duo was from New York but met as teenagers in Sanford, North Carolina, where both of their families relocated. The group was part of the Native Tongues collective, which included the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul. After getting together in 1989, Black Sheep debuted in 1991 with the hit song "Flavor of the Month" and later released its first album, A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, which gained them praise and recognition in the hip-hop community for the album's unique rhythms and intelligent, often humorous lyrics. After six years together, Black Sheep disbanded in 1995, citing creative differences.
