Campal is a neighborhood located in the northern part of the city of Panaji, the capital of the Indian state of Goa. It is completely located on the island of Tiswadi, one of the talukas in the state of Goa.
The neighborhoods name derives from "Campal de Dom Manuel", after Dom Manuel de Portugal e Castro, who developed it as a commercial area in 1830.
On the left side of the road into Campal there is a large four-metre cannon. Slightly further is a garden containing a statue erected in 1929 of Francisco Luis Gomes, a representative in the Cortes, in Lisbon.
Campal also houses the Kala Academy, [1] a cultural centre with indoor and outdoor auditoriums, which hosted the International Film Festival of India in 2004, [2] as well as a gymkhana surrounded by a large playground with various sports facilities.
Campal Indoor Complex is a multi-purpose indoor stadium, the home of the Sports Authority of Goa. [3]
The INOX four-screen multiplex theater, the Goa Directorate of Health Services, and the Goa College of Architecture are also located in Campal. Various trade fairs and exhibitions also are often held at the Campal grounds.

Goa State Museum, also known as the State Archaeology Museum, Panaji, is a museum in Goa, India. Established in 1977, it contains departments including Ancient History and Archaeology, Art and Craft, and Geology. The museum, as of 2008, had about 8,000 artifacts on display, including stone sculptures, wooden objects, carvings, bronzes, paintings, manuscripts, rare coins, and anthropological objects. Currently, the Museum is located at the Adil Shah's Palace in Panaji. The Museum's erstwhile premises at the EDC Complex in Patto, Panaji shall be demolished to make way for a new Museum building.

He was awarded the 57th Jnanpith Award, India's highest literary honour, in 2022, Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983 for his novel Karmelin and the Vimala V. Pai Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Puraskar award for his novel Tsunami Simon in 2011. His collection of Short stories Teresa's Man and Other Stories from Goa was nominated for the Frank O'Connor International award in 2015. Indian Institute of Technology Goa is an autonomous public university located in Goa. Ever since an IIT was allotted to Goa by the Central government in 2014, the new Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Goa started functioning from July, 2016 in a temporary campus housed at Goa Engineering College (GEC).
