Darin Zanyar, known simply as Darin, is a Kurdish-Swedish pop singer and songwriter born in Stockholm. He first came into prominence on the television talent show Idol. Darin has released nine studio albums, eight of which have gone to number 1, making him one of Sweden's most successful recording artists. His most recent album, En annan jag, was released in 2023.

Senhit announced during the former of the three that she would return to represent the nation at the 2021 contest the following year.

Senhit was due to compete in the 2020 contest with "Freaky!" before the event's eventual cancellation and had also served as the nation's 2011 entrant. "Adrenalina" was written and composed by Thomas Stengaard, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Jimmy Thörnfeldt, Kenny Silverdique, Suzi Pancenkov, Malou Linn Eloise Ruotsalainen and Chanel Tukia, along with Senhit and Flo Rida themselves. While Flo Rida had provided vocals for the track, his participation in the performance of the song on the Eurovision stage was only confirmed on the day of the second semi-final due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions.

The song was written by Alexander, Max Wolfgang, Max Ralph, and Christian Karlsson, while being produced by the latter two. Lyrically, the song finds Alexander searching for a "love-em-and-leave-em dreamboat he's not ready to forget, as lush disco flourishes coat his sensual, aching croon". Commercially, the song debuted at 94 on the UK Singles Chart, later peaking at 26, becoming the highest-charting single from Night Call.
