Cangallo District is one of six districts of the province Cangallo in Peru. [1]
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (75.10%) learnt to speak in childhood, 24.48% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census). [2]
Ayacucho is a department of Peru, located in the south-central Andes of the country. Its capital is the city of Ayacucho. The region was one of the hardest hit by terrorism in the 1980s during the guerrilla war waged by Shining Path known as the internal conflict in Peru.
