Castaway Bay is a themed area at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It consists of four distinct attractions: Battle Boats (formerly Battle Sails), Sky Climb, Sky Fortress and The Reef.

History

In December 2009, a Gold Coast Bulletin article reported Sea World would be receiving a multimillion-dollar, water-related family attraction in 2010. [1] In May 2010, Sea World confirmed they would launch a A$6 million interactive adventure zone. [2] One month later, the park announced that Castaway Bay would comprise Battle Sails, Sky Climb and Sky Fortress. They also stated that it would be open by Summer 2010. [3] Prior to official launch, the ride Battle Sails was renamed to Battle Boats. On 18 September 2010, Castaway Bay officially opened to the public. [4] In December 2017, a new splash zone expansion to Castaway Bay named The Reef was opened for the Summer school holiday season. [5] [6]

Castaway Bay features attractions provided by Mack Rides and Prime Interactives, combined with theming by Sculpt Studios. [7] [8] [9]

Battle Boats

Battle Boats is a shipwreck-themed Splash Battle (water battle attraction) where riders board one of eight boats which move around a track. Riders must shoot at the other boats and can receive fire from up to 80 other water guns located around the course. [10] [11] The ride is an ideal family attraction despite the restriction that guests under 120 centimetres (3 ft 11 in) must be accompanied by an adult who is 14 years or older. [12] The ride is a Splash Battle, an interactive boat ride manufactured by Mack Rides. [7]

Sky Climb

Sky Climb is an up-charge attraction where guests can navigate through a high ropes course 12 metres (39 ft) above the ground which features unstable rope bridges and obstacles. [10] [11] Participating guests must be at least 120 centimetres (3 ft 11 in) tall and weigh less than 130 kilograms (290 lb). Any guests under 140 centimetres (4 ft 7 in) must be accompanied by an adult who is 14 years or older. [12] The attraction is a Sky Trail Ropes Course manufactured by Prime Interactives. [8]

Sky Fortress

Sky Fortress is a 5-storey adventure playground featuring a variety of rope bridges and tunnels. [10] [11] All guests who weigh less than 130 kilograms (290 lb) can participate in this attraction. [12] The attraction is an Adventure Trail manufactured by Prime Interactives. [8]

The Reef

The Reef is a splash zone expansion to Castaway Bay which opened in December 2017. It is equipped with over 80 water canons, spouts and interactive character sculptures. The area is zero level meaning there is no pools. The area is fully wheelchair accessible and disability friendly. [5] [6] [13]

WhiteWater World Water park in Gold Coast, Australia

WhiteWater World is a seasonal water park situated in the suburb of Coomera on the Gold Coast, Australia. It is owned and operated by Ardent Leisure and is the sister park to Dreamworld.

Kids WB Fun Zone

Kids' WB Fun Zone is a themed attraction in Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia based on the Looney Tunes cartoons. The attraction was originally named Looney Tunes Village and was renamed in late 2007 when two new rides were added. At the same time, the Australian Kids' WB TV show began filming at the theme park.

Looney Tunes River Ride was a dark boat ride at the amusement park Warner Bros. Movie World at Gold Coast, Australia. The ride was unveiled on 3 June 1991, the same time as the park, and was closed on 1 February 2011 to make way for the Junior Driving School.

Bermuda Triangle (Sea World) Flume ride at Sea World, Australia

The Bermuda Triangle was a themed indoor flume ride at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Australia. In 2013, the ride was replaced by Storm Coaster, a Mack Rides water coaster.

The Thrillseeker was a steel roller coaster located at Sea World on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Designed by S.D.C., the Galaxi model opened to the public in 1982. The ride is now a traveling roller coaster owned by Shorts Amusements of Victoria known as Taipan.

Gold Rush Country

The Gold Rush Country is a themed land at the Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It currently provides a link between Main Street and Rocky Hollow.

BuzzSaw (roller coaster) Steel roller coaster in Australia

BuzzSaw was a Maurer AG SkyLoop roller coaster located within the Gold Rush Country section of the Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast of Australia. The ride began operation on 17 September 2011 as part of Dreamworld's 30th birthday celebrations. The ride was permanently closed on August 31, 2021, due to Dreamworld prioritising future development plans.

Sea World Monorail System

The Sea World Monorail System is a 2-kilometre (6,600 ft) monorail circuit around the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Currently it is Australia's only remaining monorail system, after the closure of the Sydney Monorail and the other system at Broadbeach, linking the Oasis Shopping Centre with Jupiters Casino.

History of Dreamworld

The history of Dreamworld dates back to the mid-1970s when John Longhurst envisioned the future theme park. After a seven-year construction period, Dreamworld officially opened to the public on 15 December 1981. Now owned by publicly listed Ardent Leisure, the park has seen many expansions, closures and replacements over its 30-year history.

Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D Dark ride at Warner Bros. Movie World

Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D is an Interactive Dark Ride created by the Sally Corporation that is located at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, Australia. It opened on 22 September 2012 and requires riders to shoot their laser blasters at targets in order to defeat an alien threat. The ride is touted as the world's first Justice League-themed ride and the first ride of its type to feature 3D projections. Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D has been well received with many praising the ride's special effects and immersive theming.

Seal Harbour

Seal Harbour is a seal and sea lion exhibit at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Australia. It officially opened to the public in January 2013.

<i>Storm Coaster</i> Roller coaster

Storm Coaster is a Water Coaster located at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast, Australia. The ride is designed by Mack Rides of Germany and combines the flume and splashdown elements of a log flume, with the chain lift hill and drops of a steel roller coaster.

Tail Spin (Dreamworld)

Tail Spin is a Gerstlauer Sky Fly flat ride located within Ocean Parade section of the Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast, Australia. The ride began operation on 20 September 2014 as the replacement of Reef Diver.
