Saina Nehwal is an Indian professional badminton singles player. A former world no. 1, she has won over 24 international titles, which includes eleven Superseries titles. Although she reached the world's 2nd in the 2009, it was only in 2015 that she was able to attain the world no. 1 ranking, thereby becoming the only female player from India and overall the second Indian player – after Prakash Padukone – to achieve this feat. She has represented India three times in the Olympics, winning a bronze medal in her second appearance.

She has been one of the top ranked women's individual and doubles player on the continent and a contender in major international competitions. She is a vice-national champion in women's singles and has won several international titles since 2010. She won her first senior international title at the 2014 Czech International tournament in the women's doubles partnered with Michelle Li. Honderich clinched the silver and bronze medals at the 2015 Pan American Games in the women's singles and doubles respectively. At the 2017 Pan American Championships, she crowned double titles, won the women's singles and mixed doubles event. She competed at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. Honderich won her first gold medal at the Pan American Games in the women's doubles partnered with Kristen Tsai in 2019 Lima.

She also won bronze medals at the European Mixed Team Badminton Championships in 2011, 2013, and 2015 with Russian national badminton team. Polikarpova became an Israeli citizen in May 2017 and won a gold medal in 2017 Maccabiah Games.

Han Jingna is a Chinese retired badminton player who rated among the world's leading women's singles players in the 1990s. Han began practicing badminton at the age of seven. Two years later, she trained at the sports school in Wuhan. She was selected to join the Hubei team in 1988 when she was thirteen, and to join the national team in 1989. She was part of national teams that clinched the 1995 Sudirman Cup in Lausanne, and the 1998 Uber Cup in Hong Kong, She won the silver medal for women's singles at the 1995 World Championships by upsetting South Korea's Bang Soo-hyun in the semifinals before falling to Chinese teammate Ye Zhaoying in the finals. Han also earned a singles bronze medal at the next World Championships in 1997. She competed in the women's singles competition at the 1996 Olympic Games but was eliminated in the quarterfinals round by the defending Olympic gold medalist Susi Susanti of Indonesia.
