Nigeria was the most successful nation of the competition having won nine golds and 24 medals in total. South Africa was a close second with seven golds and also a total of 24 medals overall. Tunisia and Botswana were the next most successful, although Ethiopia and Kenya had greater medal hauls.

Djamel Keddou Algerian footballer and manager

Djamel Keddou was an Algerian football player and manager. He spent his entire playing career with USM Alger and had 25 caps for the Algeria national football team, winning a gold medal at the 1975 Mediterranean Games in Algiers. As a manager, he led USM Alger to the Algerian Cup in 1988, beating rivals CR Belouizdad in the final. Keddou also managed Algerian clubs JS El Biar and ES Ben Aknoun.

Uganda at the 2007 All-Africa Games

Uganda competed in the 2007 All-Africa Games held at the Stade du 5 Juillet in the city of Algiers, Algeria. The country received two medals, including a gold in long-distance running. It was the first time that the country had won a medal in badminton, receiving a bronze in the men's singles.

The badminton competitions at the 2018 African Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria was held between 19 and 25 July at the Salle Protection-Civile de Dar El-Beïda.
