Celebrity Big Brother 2002, also known as Celebrity Big Brother 2, was the second series of the British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother . It was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK, launching on 20 November 2002, and ending on 29 November 2002, lasting ten days. Proceeds from viewer voting went to four different charities: Centrepoint, National Missing Persons Helpline, Rethink and Samaritans. The series was sponsored by phone company O2. Les Dennis is commonly remembered for his depression during the series following his split from wife Amanda Holden.^[1]

Reality television is a genre of television programming that documents purportedly unscripted real-life situations, often starring unknown individuals rather than professional actors. Reality television came to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with the global successes of the series Survivor, Idols, and Big Brother, all of which became global franchises. <i>Celebrity Big Brother</i> (UK TV series) British television reality game show

Celebrity Big Brother is a British television reality game show based on the Dutch show Big Brother, created by producer John de Mol in 1997, which aired from 2001 to 2018. The show followed a number of celebrity contestants, known as housemates, who were isolated from the outside world for an extended period of time in a custom built House. Each week, one of the housemates is evicted by a public vote, with the last housemate named the winner. The series takes its name from the character in George Orwell's 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Channel 4 is a British public-service free-to-air television network that began transmission on 2 November 1982. Although largely commercially-self-funded, it is ultimately publicly-owned; originally a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), the station is now owned and operated by Channel Four Television Corporation, a public corporation of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, which was established in 1990 and came into operation in 1993. With the conversion of the Wenvoe transmitter group in Wales to digital terrestrial broadcasting on 31 March 2010, Channel 4 became a UK-wide TV channel for the first time.

Anne Diamond

Anne Diamond (born 8 September 1954) is an English radio and television presenter. She hosted Good Morning Britain on TV-am and the similarly titled Good Morning... with Anne and Nick , alongside co-presenter Nick Owen. However, her presenting style has attracted accusations of "dumbing down". On Day 1, Anne was second to enter the house. On Day 7, she became the second housemate to be evicted from the house, after receiving 50.6% of the public vote.

Anne Margaret Diamond is a British journalist and broadcaster. She hosted Good Morning Britain for TV-am and the similarly titled Good Morning... with Anne and Nick for BBC One, both with Nick Owen as her co-presenter. She has also worked previously for Loose Women, BBC London, and is a regular columnist for the Daily Mail. Since 2003, she has made regular appearances on Channel 5's topical discussion show The Wright Stuff and now its successor, Jeremy Vine.

Good Morning Britain was TV-am's flagship breakfast television show, broadcast on weekdays from February 1983 until the franchise ended in 1992. It had many different presenters throughout its run but the most enduring pairing was Anne Diamond and Nick Owen.

TV-am was a TV company that broadcast the ITV franchise for breakfast television in the United Kingdom from 1 February 1983 until 31 December 1992. The station was the UK's first national operator of a commercial breakfast television franchise. Its daily broadcasts were between 6 am and 9:25 am.

Goldie

Goldie (born Clifford Joseph Price; 19 September 1965) is a British musician, actor and DJ, well known for his innovations to the jungle and drums and bass music genres. His first studio album Timeless entered the UK Albums Chart at number seven, whilst another Saturnz Return entered at fifteen. Aside from his musical career, his television and film acting credits include The World Is Not Enough , Snatch , Everybody Loves Sunshine , and playing gangster Angel Hudson in EastEnders . He was the first to enter the house on Day 1 and was the first celebrity to be evicted on Day 5.

Clifford Joseph Price, MBE, better known by his stage name Goldie, is an English musician, DJ, visual artist and actor from Walsall, United Kingdom.

<i>Timeless</i> (Goldie album) 1995 studio album by Goldie

Timeless is the 1995 debut album by British electronic musician Goldie and universally regarded as a groundbreaking release in the history of drum and bass music. The album blended the complex, chopped and layered breakbeats and deep basslines of jungle and drum and bass with expansive, symphonic strings and atmospherics, and female vocals.

Les Dennis

Les Dennis (born Leslie Dennis Heseltine; 12 October 1953) is a British comedian, television presenter, and actor, best known for presenting Family Fortunes from 1987 to 2002. He was fifth to enter the house on Day 1. Dennis was commonly remembered in the series for his depression, which was caused following his split from then-wife Amanda Holden. He later described his time in the house as "not one of his wisest moves". However, he continued to be on programme and was declared the runner-up.

Leslie Dennis Heseltine known as Les Dennis, is an English television presenter, actor and comedian. He was the presenter of Family Fortunes for 15 years from 1987 until 2002.

Family Fortunes is a British television game show based on the American game show Family Feud. The programme ran on ITV from 6 January 1980 to 10 January 2003, before being revived by the same channel in 2006 under the title All Star Family Fortunes.

Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity. It can affect a person's thoughts, behavior, motivation, feelings, and sense of well-being. Mark Owen

Mark Owen (born 27 January 1972) is an English singer-songwriter, known for being a member of pop group Take That. After the band split up in 1996, Owen became the first ex-member to release solo material. His debut studio album Green Man charted at number 33, which included the singles "Child", "Clementine" and "I Am What I Am". On Day 1, Mark was sixth to enter the house. He was later announced as the winner of the series, earning 77% of the public vote and beating Les. He broke down in tears when he left the house, overwhelmed by the fans' support.

Mark Anthony Patrick Owen, is an English singer and songwriter. He is a member of pop-group Take That. As a solo artist, Owen had sold over 500,000 records worldwide and 45 million with Take That.

Take That are an English pop group formed in Manchester in 1989. The group currently consists of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen. The original line-up also featured Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Barlow acts as the group's lead singer and primary songwriter, with Owen and Williams initially providing backing vocals and Donald and Orange serving primarily as dancers.

Green Man is the debut solo album from English singer-songwriter Mark Owen. The album was released through RCA and BMG on 2 December 1996, months after the official split of his former boyband, Take That. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Three singles were released from the album: "Child", "Clementine" and "I Am What I Am". The album peaked at number 33 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was re-released in 2003 - with the revised title of Green Man: Revisited - following the success of his second studio album, In Your Own Time which had been released earlier that year. Green Man has been certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for shipments of 100,000 copies in the United Kingdom. To date, the album has sold over 1,000,000 copies.

Melinda Messenger

Melinda Messenger (born 23 February 1971) is an English former glamour model and television presenter, most notable for posing topless for Page 3 in The Sun . She continued to work for The Sun until readers voted to ban models with breast implants. On Day 1, Melinda was fourth to enter the house. Whilst in the house, she was described as a "blonde Vulcan" by Sue, who questioned her apparent lack of emotions. She reached third place during the series' final, on Day 10.

Melinda Jane Messenger is an English television presenter and former glamour model and Page Three girl. She presented the magazine programme Live from Studio Five and was formerly the co-presenter of the reality show Cowboy Builders.

Page 3 was a feature most commonly associated with the British tabloid newspaper The Sun for over 44 years, from November 1970 until January 2015. It consisted of a large photograph of a topless female glamour model, often known as a "Page 3 girl," usually published on the third page of the print edition.

Sue Perkins

Sue Perkins (born 22 September 1969) is a British comedian, broadcaster, actress and writer, who rose to prominence through her comedy partnership with Mel Giedroyc in Mel and Sue . Sue was third to enter the house on Day 1. During her time in the house, she had notable moments with Mark and Les. She was third to be evicted from the house on Day 9, with 75% of the public vote.
