The Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) is one of five zonal associations of governance in volleyball within the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC). It governs indoor volleyball and beach volleyball in Central Asia and South Asia. CAVA was formed in 10th AVC General Assembly in 1993. [3] [4] CAVA consists of 14 national federation members which are full members with the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). All of them also represent the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of their respective countries and dependent territories, allowing them to participate in the Olympic Games. [5]
CAVA consists of the national volleyball federations of Central Asia and South Asia and run zonal championships including the CAVA Asian Men's Nations League and CAVA Asian Women's Nations League. It also promotes regional volleyball, supports the creation of national federations affiliated with FIVB, ensures compliance with FIVB regulations, plans annual activities, and reports competition results to the FIVB and confederations. [6]
The current president, Mohamed Latheef, former president of the Volleyball Association of Maldives, was elected as CAVA's president for the 2024–2028 term in Bangkok, Thailand, in February 2024. [7] [8] [9] His election also secured him the position of vice-president within the continental governing body, AVC. [10]
The Central Asian Volleyball Association has 14 national federations. [11] [12]
